TelevisaUnivisión presented this Wednesday in Mexico City the new season of the series Killer womenwhich will premiere next Friday and stars, among others, the Spanish actress Jedet Izquierdo (Poison2020) and the Mexican Yalitza Aparicio (Rome2018).
Killer women It is an adaptation of the homonymous book by the Argentine author Marissa Grinstein and mixes real events with fiction to narrate the stories of women who had to kill to live, according to TelevisaUnivisión in a statement.
Finding themselves in adverse situations, such as violent partners, manipulative parents and hostile bosses who prevent them from improving their lives, the protagonists choose the path of violence and commit various crimes.
With the premiere of Killer womenJedet explained to EFE, will become the first transsexual woman to star in a TelevisaUnivisión series.
“It is one of the reasons why I accepted the project, in Spain perhaps I would not have taken it. Mexico is the country with the most transfeminicides in the world and I thought I wanted to do this for my sisters, to pave the way for those who are yet to come, ”he declared to the media on the red carpet.
Jedet explained that she played Paula, also a trans woman “who suffers a series of humiliations that otherwise she would not have to suffer.”
For her part, Yalitza Aparicio was “happy” for the opportunity to embody a character that generated “emotional challenges.”
“He was a challenging character, but at the same time he left me with many things to understand. That’s what I like about my job,” she stated.
In addition to Jedet and Yalitza Aparicio, the Mexicans Claudia Martín, Sara Maldonado, Macarena García, Barbie Casillas and Nicole Curiel and the Colombian Catherine Siachoque complete the cast of actresses.
This new season consists of eight episodes, each starring a different actress, and can be seen on the ViX+ video-on-demand platform starting on November 4 in Mexico, the United States and most Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.
