The horror series of the year? First video of The Cabinet of Curiosities, Guillermo del Toro’s new nightmare

Guillermo del Toro wants to reopen Pandora’s Box. The award-winning film director, author of films such as Pan’s Labyrinth or The Shape of Water, will once again uncover the jar of essences to provoke us new, sweet and terrifying nightmares. He will do it thanks to Netflix, with whom he collaborates in what will be his first series: The Cabinet of Curiosities. A series with an anthology format in which each chapter will tell a self-contained story. will premiere on October 25 and it will serve to celebrate Halloween in style, as it is called to be one of the scary series of the year.

  • Episode 1: Dreams in the Witch House (based on the story of the same name by Lovecraft). Written by Mika Watkins (Black Mirror) and directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight). Its cast includes Rupert Grint (Rum in Harry Potter), Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Rings of Power), DJ Qualls (Supernatural), Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy, Titans).
  • Episode 2: Graveyard Rats (inspired by the homonymous story by Henry Kuttner). Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Hannibal) with David Hewlett (The Shape of Water) as the main star.
  • Episode 3: Lot 36 (adapted from a story by Guillermo del Toro). Directed by Guillermo Navarro (Narcos) and written by Regina Corrado (The Strain), with Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), Elpidia Carrillo (Predator), Demetrius Grosse (Fear The Walking Dead) and Sebastian Roche (The Man in the High Castle) .
  • Episode 4: Pickman’s Model (again out of lovecraft). With Lee Patterson (Curve) writing the script, Keith Thomas (Firestarter) directing) and a cast made up of Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone), Crispin Glover (Alice in Wonderland) and Oriana Leman (The Whale).

  • Episode 5: The Autopsy (based on a Michael Shea’s story). Directed by David Prior (The Empy Man) and written by David S.Goyer (Sandman). With F. Murray Abraham (Oscar winner), Glynn Turman (Fargo) and Luke Roberts (Ransom).
  • Episode 6: The Murmuring (also taken from the Del Toro’s imaginary). Written and directed by Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), with Essie David (also The Babadook), Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) and Hannah Galway (Sex/Life).
  • Episode 7: The Outside (from an Emily Carroll comic). Written by Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor) and directed by Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), escorted in front of the cameras by Kate Micucci (The Little Hours) and Martin Starr (Silicon Valley).
  • Episode 8: The Viewing (from an original story by Aaron Stewart-Ahn and Panos Cosmatos, mandy authors, who also directed). With actors like Peter Weller (Star Trek Into Darkness), Eric André (The Eric Andre Show), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman), Charlyne Yi (Always Be My Maybe), Steve Agee (Peacemaker), Michael Therrialt (Locke and Key) and Saad Siddiqui (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow).
