Women’s emancipation, gender equality and sociocultural differences are some of the issues addressed by the drama directed by Giacomo Campiotti and written by Valia Santella, Eleonora Cimpanelli and Antonio Manca.

How it ends the first season of The Wife? In chapter 3 we see many unforeseen events and twists, first of all the death of Vittorio (Maurizio Donadoni). His departure plunges Italo (Giorgio Marchesi) and Maria (Serena Rossi) into total chaos, forcing them to deal with the numerous debts and financial problems that the man has left them.

Things are further complicated by the insistent presence of Antonio (Mario Sgueglia), an increasingly nosy figure who tries to insinuate himself into his ex-fiancée’s life by offering to buy the new piece of land to cover his expenses. However, we learn that Antonio, in addition to hiding valuable information about the land, is up to something else.

Thanks to Italo’s tenacity, Maria is finally persuaded to reject Antonio’s offer, further strengthening her relationship with her husband. She later joins him with an idea: to create a space to entertain the children of all those women who will finally be able to dedicate themselves to their work freely and without worries.

At this point everything is ready, but the newfound serenity is destined to be short-lived. That same night, in fact, a sudden and disastrous fire breaks out on the farm, which disrupts the lives of all the protagonists, especially little Paolino (Antonio Nicolai). We are thus approaching a terrible second twist.

‘The Wife’: the explained ending of the series

We are approaching the final events of chapter 3. At the end, a heartbreaking scene breaks our hearts, leaving us confused and speechless: Italo loses his life in the fire.

The man dies to save the life of his son. María, for her part, enters the hospital without even knowing that she has fallen into Antonio’s terrible trap. Maria is still in the hospital when she asks Nunzia to take care of poor Paolino, who is left alone.

Meanwhile, Antonio, not happy with the irreversible damage caused to his ex-girlfriend’s family, asks the doctor who treats her to secretly start drugging her, thus forcing her to stay in the hospital longer than expected.

At that moment, the orphan boy ends up being locked up in an institution, while a long battle begins for Maria to save him and bring him back to her side. She is also given strength and courage by the discovery that she has become pregnant with a girl, the fruit of her love with Italo. And it is thanks to little Vittoria that Maria ends up becoming a real fighter. Not only does she manage to take little Paolino with her, but she even makes her career goals come true, in which she has always firmly believed.

Thanks to her determination, Maria manages to found the women-only cooperative, a project also imagined and desired for a long time by Italo and Vittorio.
