Receives candy and movie tickets as thanks for his 27 years of service | Teletics

A fast food chain worker received an unusual gift from the company as a thank you for his 27 years of service.

Kevin Ford is an American who has dedicated a large part of his life to working in the premises located in a Las Vegas airport.

The man received the gift inside a plastic bag, and made a video highlighting each “detail” that the company gave him as a “prize” for his loyal service for so many years.

A ticket to the movies, candy, two pens and a crystal glass, “the reward that my work gave me for 27 years, I never missed a day of work… thank you,” Ford said in the video.

viral video and reward

The video of the worker opening his gifts went viral on social networks, before this, his daughter Serynam created a collection to help her father on GoFundMe where, to date, he has raised $270,000 (almost 187 million colones).

Notable among the donors is actor and comedian David Spade, who donated $5,000.

Hello, my name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work. He originally started working this job as a single father when he got custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago. Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance this employer provided because he was unionized. This saw all four of his daughters finish high school and college with full medical coverage.

“My dad is still working there, because although he looks young, he is reaching retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or he is waiting for money, but if someone wants to bless him, he would love to visit his grandchildren, ”commented his daughter in GoFundMe.

Grateful

Despite everything, the worker was grateful for the gift and the company. “It is a large company… but like most large corporations, they have lost contact with their workers and because of COVID they began to cut programs,” mentions the TVN media outlet.

While she did regret receiving the gift, thinking it was more than just candy, “we used to get checks for 20 years, and that’s what I really thought the movie ticket was. It wasn’t even two movie tickets, it was one. So I said ‘this is too much’, I can’t believe it, it seemed like it was stuff that they had laying around, that they put together,” she added.

Guest on TODAY

Kevin’s “fame” after the publication of the video led him to be invited to the renowned program Today of NBC NEWS.

Ford acknowledged that, for the first time, he missed work one day to attend the program, where he was given another unexpected gift, a visit from his daughter and three grandchildren, whom he had not seen in four years.

The man tearfully thanked all the gestures and said that with the money he will pay his debts and help his family.

company responds

The fast food chain released a statement clarifying that the gift bag given to employees, reflecting the recognition and appreciation of their peers, was used to celebrate one of their veterans and dedicated associates for his teamwork and good attitude.

They assure that the company does offer its employees a “solid recognition program” where its collaborators are thanked for their permanence milestones with monetary prizes.
