Queen Elizabeth II saw the series ‘The Crown’ and did it in a particular way

Since its premiere in 2016, The Crown became one of the favorite series for Netflix subscribers. There have been many representations of Queen Elizabeth II – who died on September 8, but this series was one of the most viewed and commented on.

The question of whether Queen Elizabeth II saw the series at some point was always latent, but it seems that now the mystery would have been solved by Matt Smith, an actor who played Prince Philip of Edinburgh in the first two seasons of fiction.

In an interview with TodayShowthe actor revealed details of the meetings he had with other members of the royal family.

The production, created by Peter Morgan, has already aired four seasons and over the years there have been several controversies surrounding the project, mostly because of whether or not it portrayed the real characters as they were or whether the events were properly represented.

But, without a doubt, one of the biggest questions was whether the royals were actually seen on the small screen, played by actors. Matt Smith said that he knew about it.

“I heard that the Queen had seen it,” said the actor, and then made a revelation that surprised many. “Apparently she did it with a projector on Sunday nights,” he said.

But, this was not the case for all royals, he said. “I know Felipe definitely didn’t see her. Once, a friend of mine sat next to him at a dinner and asked him… he said: ‘Felipe, have you seen The Crown?’. Apparently, the duke turned around and said sharply: ‘Don’t be ridiculous’”.

In turn, Smith recalled the meeting with another member of the royal family who also had a comment on the series, but this time he did it to him personally.

Smith met Prince Harry four years ago and they had an unusual encounter. “He walked up to me and said ‘grandfather,’” as he shook my hand.

Smith cannot say that Enrique is still aware of the series, but he does know that he “looked at it a little bit.” Lastly, he talked about how in the past he met the current King Carlos III, who paid him particular compliments for the “fabulous shoes” he was wearing at the time, but made no comment regarding the series.

On September 8, the world was moved by the news that, at the age of 96 and after 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II died. Before the death, the audience of Netflix returned to position The Crown in the Top 10 of the most watched series on the platform.
