Premiere movies and series on VOD: what to watch from August 5 to 7 on Netflix, HBO Max, Movistar +, Disney + and Prime Video

Without a doubt, an intense week of premieres, in which a few days ago we had Pixar’s Lightyear on Disney+, released after the 45-day window that had elapsed since its premiere in theaters in mid-June. But that does not mean that the weekend will be quiet, since Disney’s VOD service brings us another major premiere to do with popcorn and the sound bar to the maximum, in addition to the adaptation that Netflix has made of one of the works comic masters.

Disney+ brings us today Predator: The Prey: After a sixth installment that tried to put the saga back on track and divided the fans -Shane Black’s Predator (2018)-, Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) seeks to return to the tone of one and two, facing a Predator against a human, but with the component of being a prequel set in the Comanche nation of North American Indians 300 years ago. A tribe is the new target of the predator who comes to Earth to earn his stripes, who will end up facing a Comanche warrior who only has a bow, arrows, spears and her skills against the predator.

And Netflix brings us today Sandman, the adaptation of the homonymous comic book and masterpiece by Neil Gaiman which will hopefully live up to its fantastic source material: when the Sandman, the cosmic being who controls dreams, is captured and held prisoner for over a century, he must travel through different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos. that caused his absence.

is also Sump, a South Korean film that mixes pure action with elements of science fiction in a plot about a forgetful agent who has to bring a child to South Korea, whose blood is the vaccine for a virus that is infecting millions of people. A film whose most attractive element is that its scenes have no cuts, giving the sensation that it is filmed in a single continuous sequence shot.

At HBO Max we have the third season of Blessed Patience, British comedy with Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit) in which he plays Paul, who along with his wife Ally have a busy life with full-time jobs, elderly parents, a mortgage and the difficult situations they have to face as parents of Small children.

Amazon Prime Video brings us 13 lives: Based on true events, the film tells the story of the international effort to rescue a Thai soccer team trapped in Tham Luang cave during an unexpected storm. The world’s most skilled and experienced team of divers with a unique ability to navigate the cave’s labyrinth of narrow and flooded tunnels faced numerous almost insurmountable difficulties, joining with Thai police and military forces and more than 10,000 volunteers to achieve the distressing rescue of the twelve athletes and their coach.

In Filmin we have Counting sheepsthe long-awaited debut by José Corral Llorente, known for his award-winning short films, is a black comedy with hints of a thriller starring Eneko Sagardoy, Natalia de Molina and Juan Grandinetti; Kung Fu Zohra, in which Mabrouk El Mechri (“JCVD”) achieves something that seemed impossible: combining social denunciation of sexist violence with martial arts cinema, with skill, humor and a lot of rhythm. Y I want to talk about Duras: presented in the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Festival, Claire Simon’s latest film recreates the interview between journalist Michèle Manceaux and Yann Andréa, Marguerite Duras’s last partner.
