María Inés Obaldía expands complaint for advertising that uses her image

The Director of Culture of the Municipality of Montevideo Maria Ines Obaldia appealed to a Twitter message to reiterate a claim he made about misleading advertising using his image for a campaign for an alleged investment.

“Today, exactly one month after the complaint against Computer CrimesI expanded it because the use of my image with TOTALLY FALSE information has intensified,” he wrote this Monday, with capital letters in the original.

Specifically, a phishing campaign uses the image of the former Canal communicator and titles the following statement as a “special report”: “María Inés Obaldía’s latest investment amazes experts and terrifies big banks.”

Similar fraudulent campaigns have used other personalities, such as Sergio Puglia and Alejandro Camino or politicians such as Danilo Astori, Daniel Martínez or José Mujica.

The fraudulent “report” mimics the design of the site of The country or other means of communication, which also has been denounced. in those texts
there is talk of an investment channel in which the communicators would have seen their assets increase.

In the event that the person agrees to give their credit card details to make this supposed “investment”, this information is used to remove money from their bank account.
