“Housing Complex C is a very clever horror” – Maki Terashima Furuta

Housing Complex C aired its first episode on October 2. The producer of the series, Maki Terashima Furuta, revealed secrets and details.

The anime also bets on terror for this October. Thus, entering the Halloween environment, Warner Bros., through its animation division, adult swim, prepared a new show full of mystery. Is about Housing Complex C.

The story follows kimi Shirokado, who is an eccentric girl who lives in a low-cost housing complex in the coastal city of Kurosaki. During the summer, she befriends popular girl Yuri Koshide when her family moves in from Tokyo along with fishing interns from the Middle East. A series of strange events soon occur, from dead animals turning up on the property to tenants mysteriously disappearing with moss growing inside their apartments.

That gloomy tone, but “full of clever horror” is the new production by Maki Terashima Furuta. The executive has worked on projects such as Castlevania, Ghost in the Shell, clone wars Y Akatzuki.

Knowing a lot about gore, the developer insists that this is not a normal plot. On the contrary, she claims that it is a set of puzzles that will only be solved by those who are able to wait until the end. “That’s the big surprise, seeing the end will be a reward,” she added. In addition, she spoke exclusively with CINEMACOMICS about the new anime Housing Complex C.

What was your favorite part of the story?

Well, I really liked the whole story arc. However, what I liked the most was how there are many mysteries and many questions throughout the series. Also, in the last episode, all the answers are answered and it’s not just an episode with a lot of information, but there are a lot of actions. I know the fans will be looking forward to it. The last episode was my favourite.

How did the idea come about?

You know, I didn’t want you to know, (laughs) but this whole Housing Complex C idea came from a brilliant game creator. We called him ‘Amphibian’ and this is his first anime project. He is so smart and has so many great ideas in the world. We wanted the context and background behind the housing complex to not look silly or simple. Much less that it was just a jumpscare.

What show idea did you have in mind when designing it?

We wanted to make a very informative show, you know, so some people are not happy because there’s too much information. But it is because of all this information that you will learn to digest. The last episode gives so much depth to the story. You know, it’s not just like hello, you know, it’s scary like ghosts. It’s not that kind of horror, I don’t want to call it really simple, but it’s not like the rest of basic horror.

A masterpiece can be pretty and stupid and superficial, you know, so we didn’t want that to happen with this project. He is very intelligent. It is a very interesting complex story.

What message is there for the audience?

It’s something I’d like people to see again. Even after going through the full four episodes. If you watch it again, you’ll end up discovering something new each time, so for my part, I have to watch it several times to make sure I understood it. It makes sense and I like it, but even to this day, when I watch it again, I still see something new. This is why the artists have spent a lot of time and effort to make beautiful animation. Still, it shouldn’t just be seen as a beautiful animation, but as a puzzle that drops a couple of clues here and there so that when you watch it again, it’s like a Discovery Channel documentary.

Was it difficult to create this story?

While I didn’t create the story, I was close. Amphibian, for his part, did, and he not only created the concept. In fact, he wrote the story himself. So he wrote the script for all four episodes and they are a bit complex, especially for people who have never read HP Lovecraft’s books. It can be a bit confusing because there are a lot of HP Lovecraft influences on this show, but Amphibian has been very kind and generous and has shared any additional information that he needed to fully understand the story. So I didn’t write the story, but I’m very aware of what’s going on in the story and it all makes sense.

Why is Housing Complex C an unmissable proposition?

This show is really, you know, a horror show and I think it’s perfect for this time of year because Halloween is coming up and you know, it’s a spooky month of the year. So people are looking for something like this and there has never really been an original core anime in the past. So I think this is one of the first ones and it’s very entertaining, you know, the story is very interesting, the actions, you know, the gore is there.

There have been a couple of gore scenes in episodes 2 and 3. But if you watch the last episode, there’s a lot of gore in there. So, you know, I’m not trying to gross you out, but it’s a good kind of how it would give you goosebumps. Finally even further that gore helps with the story and makes for a good horror show all in all.

An expected ending, what have they told you about it?

I mean, I just wish you knew something. I have been reading a lot of tweets from similar people because like me I live tweet every Saturday with viewers and some people have been saying that there is too much information and they are hesitating if they should follow. But if you watch, if you stay until the end… I think the surprise is there, you know, it’s like a reward. It is a very rewarding episode because if you have seen it, there were questions and too many, which will be answered.

At what point in your career did it come and how?

I’ve worked on a lot of shows, this show is a bit special because it was decided at the last minute. I’m producing a show called Uzumaki, which is an adaptation of a manga. I mean an adaptation of the legendary Junji Ito, so he’s taking a little longer than I expected. So originally we were going to show several series this year, but since we couldn’t, I wanted this one to be very special.

And even though it was at the last minute we found the exact cast, director and creator. Everything worked within the schedule and budget that we had. We try very hard. So I feel like working with them very closely and intensely, just in the last two years, was amazing. I feel very affable or I feel very attached to the program because everything happens very quickly but in a very complex situation.

Was it hard teamwork?

Yeah, it wasn’t just hard. You know, if I were a teacher, I would consider (the team) as a student of more than 8 years because they did not cause me problems. They did not ask questions as if they were very humble and good students. You know, it was like they did their homework and like they turned everything in on time and then like what they turned in was top notch. You know the story was good, the animation was good and just the fact that they were able to do everything within the given timeframe… That’s enough for me, you know, so it wasn’t hard.

The series is now complete hbo max.

We would love to give thanks to the writer of this post for this remarkable material
