House of the Dragon: Where Daemon’s Sword, Dark Sister, Comes From

The sword was not always Demonactually belonged to Visenya Targaryenswho was the sister and wife of Aegon The Conqueror. According to the Game of Thrones fandom site, Visenya used this sword during combat, it was even the one he used during the war of conquest.

arya stark mentions Visenya and his sword during the early seasons of Game of Thrones (there are also references to it in Tales of Dunk and Eggwhich is rumored to be another spin off of the series), but she does not explain how it is that, some 6 decades after she used it, the sword ends up in the hands of Daemon Targaryen.

Dark Sister is one of the two valyrian steel swords that belong to the Targaryens, and after being passed to Aemon The Dragonknight, eventually ends up lost. The last person to use it was a character named bloodravenwho was the son of Aegon IV, who was banished from the other side of the wall, which leads us to think that, if the series based on Jon Snow is really made (and it is already confirmed that it is something they are planning), we could learn more about the fate of this sword.

And how did you get to Demon? In the books it is mentioned that Visenya inherits the sword from her son (known as Maegor the Cruel), but he later gets Blackfyre, the other Valyrian sword, and Dark Sister is encased in Dragonstone.

Eventually, dark-sister is taken by an heiress to House Velaryon, who was the widow of one of Aenys Targaryen, and it is she who gives it to her son, Jaehaerys Targaryen, who gives it to his second son Baelon Targaryen, who is Daemon’s father, and Daemon got the sword after his death.

Dark Sister is famous because she was part of great battles, tournaments and even fights against pirates, while Blackfyre is the sword that is delivery to the targaryens who have the honor of becoming kings and sitting on the iron throne. Daemon receives Dark Sister from his grandfather, and that is what marks him out as a great warrior, even more powerful than Viserys.
