(CNN Spanish) — The incarnation of death will travel through one of the most emblematic avenues of Mexico City in the Day of the Dead parade, which emerged and became famous after the premiere of “Spectre”, the James Bond movie.

The parade, which this year will have the theme “The navel of the moon”, will take place on Saturday, October 29 and will begin at 5:00 p.m. (local time) at the Puerta de los Leones in Chapultepec.

The authorities of the country’s capital said that in this edition the tour of catrinas and illuminated allegorical cars will arrive at night to the Zócalo for the first time, where it will close with a concert by regional music singer Ángela Aguilar.

It is expected that 1 million attendees will attend the event and that it will generate an economic income of 4,000 million Mexican pesos (about US $ 200 million) throughout the weekend.

The route will be about 9 km in which 10 illuminated allegorical cars, seven monumental balloons and 344 musicians will parade, as well as a drone show, music and pyrotechnics.

The Day of the Dead parade will begin at the Puerta de los Leones de Chapultepec, continue along Paseo de la Reforma Avenue and reach the capital’s Zócalo.

The theme of the parade this year is “Mexico: The navel of the moon” and it will be divided into eight chapters and will feature new characters such as: Luna, Meztli, Lola la Mariposa, Xolo, Laka Laka, Mari la Mariachi and Tina la Catrina.

The 10 floats are inspired by Quetzalcoatl, Mictlan and the catrinas of José Guadalupe Posada. There will also be one of the Mexican National Team, giant representations of La Llorona, of Diego Rivera’s famous mural “Dream of a Sunday afternoon in the Alameda Central”, by Frida Kahlo, Juan Gabriel and Chavela Vargas, said Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Secretary of Culture of the CDMX.

To close this event, the Government of the capital prepares fireworks and a drone show. The regional singer Ángela Aguilar will close the parade with the song “La Llorona”.
