Cruel irony: worker shot to death on the set of ‘Law & Order’, a TV series about violence in New York

A 31-year-old worker was fatally shot this morning inside a car on the set of the legendary TV series “Law & Order” in Brooklyn, the NYPD said.

The attacker approached the victim when he was reserving parking spaces for an incoming “Law & Order: Organized Crime” series film crew on N. Henry St. near Norman Ave., in the greenpoint neighborhood around 5:15 a.m.

The victim, whose employer has not been identified, was sitting in a car, with a traffic cone placed on the roof, when the gunman opened the door and shot him in the neck and head. He then fled and has not been arrested.

EMS paramedics took the victim to an area hospital, where he died. Her name was not immediately released and It is not known if it was a random or premeditated attack. It was also unclear at the time if anyone involved with the production was present at the time of the shooting.

The victim, a resident of Queens, had a criminal record, but it was not immediately clear if his past had anything to do with his death.

A notice posted on the block by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) indicated that the recording of the episode of the third season of the series was scheduled to begin at 6 am on Tuesday, detailed DailyNews. Vehicles not involved in filming were supposed to be removed from the area last night from 10 p.m.

Cops are scouring the area for surveillance footage that may help them identify the shooter. the tv channel NBCUniversal nor MOME have commented at this time.
