“Mind your business, bitch*.” This is how the first sentence of Britney Spears sounds after a few years of musical absence. Her return to musical news has been produced by Will.I.Am, with whom she signed one of her latest hits that led the sales charts more than a decade ago: Scream and shout.
Now they do it with Mind your business, a song that has just been released at dawn this Friday, July 21, and that has become a trend from the first minutes of its premiere. And to promote it, the Black Eyed Peas singer has gone over by CBS Mornings to talk about how this new collaboration was forged.
The most important and relevant have been his words about the current state of the Princess of Pop: “She is one of the most intrepid, strong, kind and pure people I have ever met in my life… I always loved working with you and I always will (…). Collaborating with her from time to time, when you are in the studio, when you are making music, that is the only thing that matters. I see the same light, the same joy, the same love and passion”.
It’s clear from Will.I.Am’s words that beyond their obvious musical chemistry, the two maintain a friendship that has lasted over the years: “I’ve been a fan, friend and supporter of Britney over the years. A supporter as a person who goes out and listens to her music, a supporter as someone who is there to help defend her in her moments when she was fighting for her liberation. She is an incredible person.”
And in that help, in that musical return, both the singer and the soloist make it clear that Britney’s life is only something that concerns Britney: “Music is therapy for many people. Dancing is therapy for many people. It helps you with whatever you’re going through. I see that every time I see her dance on her Instagram. I get turned on, because I see how much she loves music. When you’re in the spotlight, many times you just want to live your life. That has to do with privacy and everyone else, every individual who feels like they’re not living a private life on social media. There’s a fine line, and everyone deserves their own version of privacy.”
Mind your business is the second collaboration they publish together Will.I.Am and Britney Spears and it is also the second song by the Princess of Pop in less than a year after the version she made with another of her great friends and artists: Elton John. With the British she published in the summer of 2022 Hold me closer.
