When are the LGTBIQ+ Madrid 2022 Pride festivities: proclamation, concerts and demonstration

“After two years marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, in which the invisibility of the collective has been directly proportional to the increase in hate speech and hate crimes throughout Europe and in the world, LGTBIQ+ Pride returns to the streets of Madrid with more force than ever for the claim of equality in diversity”, prays the website of MADO (Madrid Pride).

This 2022 the festivities are framed within the celebrations of the European Association of Pride Organizers (EPOA), which has organized a program full of events and activities on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the first EuroPride (European Pride)which was held in 1992 in London.

In this 2022, the celebrations of the collective LGTBIQ+ they will be a week late by the NATO summit, so they will start on Friday, July 1 and will last until Sunday the 10th.

Friday, July 1

  • Chueca’s Pride: Neighborhood Pride begins with acts and events in Chueca venues.

Wednesday, July 6

  • Official Proclamation of the Pride Festival: returns the proclamation that will kick off the claim of Pride.

Thursday, July 7

  • heels race: a traditional sporting-festive event that this year celebrates its twenty-third edition on Calle Pelayo and which consists of finishing the route on platforms up to 15 centimeters high.

Friday, July 8

  • 15th edition Mr Gay Pride Spain, The final gala of the most important national gay beauty pageant in Spain takes place in the Plaza de España before more than 20,000 people.

Saturday, July 9

  • state demonstration, central act of Pride celebrated under the motto Facing Hate: Visibility, Pride and Resilience. The tour, along which activists and LGTBI+ entities, representatives of civil society and fifty floats will parade, will begin in Atocha and continue along the Paseo del Prado towards Colón.

Sunday, July 10

  • MADO 2022 Closing Ceremony: last act of Madrid Pride this year.

Cultural events for the Pride Festival

Along with these key events, the Pride Festival has prepared other series of events, among them, the ‘cultural’ scenarios, which will be in Plaza De España, Plaza Pedro Zerolo, Plaza del Rey and Plaza de Callao.

On July 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, the pride-festivalwith artists such as: Jamala, Dana International, Conchita Wurst, Soraya, Javiera Mena, WRS, Lerica, Daniela Vega, Soleá Morente, Azúcar Moreno, Las Ketchup, Agoney, Alba Reche and Sweet California among others.

The day and time of each concert has not yet been confirmed, but the organization plans to announce it in the coming days.
