The Torrevieja City Council will only recover 5,000 of the 197,000 euros that it allocated to the Quevedo concert

The Torrevieja Town Hall just going to re-enter 5,000 of the 197,000 euros allocated to the organization of the Quevedo concert. The festival of the young canary brought together some ten thousand people in the Antonio Soria park on September 17.

The promoting company, which took over the contract directly as it had the exclusivity of the artist, invoiced 197,000 euros for the organization, cache and logistics, plus another 155,000 for ticket sales.

The Councilor for Youth, Sunday Walls (PP) pointed out in his response to the spokesman councilor for Los Verdes, Israel Muñoz, about this contract in the last plenary session, that 8,016 tickets were sold at twenty euros each. The contract established that the full collection was for the promoter until the 7,500 tickets and 50% up to ten thousand. For your part the City Council deposited 50% from the 7,500 entries and the full amount from the ten thousand.

The contracted production company will invoice around 350,000 euros: 197,000 for the cache of the young artist and organization of the concert and the festival around his performance and approximately 155,000 for ticket sales.

Paredes pointed out that the liquidation of the file was not finished when he was asked for information on the total income and its breakdown. But according to the ticket sales figures that he did offer the municipal accounts, they would recover something more than five thousand eurosto which VAT and fees from the General Society of Authors should be deducted.

The technical instructor of the file introduced several improvements in the procedure so that the municipal investment had a more balanced cost-benefit. It was the incorporation, without disbursement for the municipality, of several artists such as Recycled J, Soge Culebra or Safreeamong others, and a DJ session at the end of the performance by Quevedo. With which the concert became the festival “Colorin, Colorado Fest” end of summer season. According to specified WallsWithin these improvements, the production company also contracted at its own expense and at no cost to the City Council, six advertising campaigns in local and provincial media -including this newspaper-.

In his plenary response, Paredes highlighted the impact of the concert on the city. He pointed out that it has been the largest in the history of the city with the attendance of ten thousand people -a figure that would exceed the number of tickets sold by almost two thousand, according to data from the Department itself-. How did INFO progress? The City Council saw the opportunity to hire the artist known for his summer hit “Quédate”, which has topped the Spotify playlist globally, when he planned his first mini-tour through large cities in Spain between the end of August and the month of September.

The mayor of the government team indicated that the programming of the areas of Culture, Festivals and Youth has placed the city as “music reference” and leisure this summer in the province and throughout the country, and even Paredes pointed out that coinciding with these concerts there has been a greater occupancy of the local hotel industry -thirteen hotels, 1,700 beds and 800 rooms-.

The hotel sector represents a minimum percentage of the local accommodation offer, focused on regulated tourist apartments -a booming sector with 22,000 beds-, and above all, in a number of beds that in high season can triple the regulated ones and that escape control of the administration to evade the payment of taxes.

To close his intervention and continuing with the scheme of response to the opposition that the members of the Popular government team usually followParedes contrasted “success” of the municipal initiative with the summer festivals with the management of the areas of Culture, Youth and Festivals of the previous left-wing government team.
