“The songs keep playing, but it’s hard for us to get together”: Nacho Cano, at 60, comes out of the shadows to talk about the addictions that surrounded him at his best and clarifies everything about the return of Mecano | People | Entertainment

Ignacio Cano, better known as Nacho Cano and one of the members of the iconic 80’s group, Mecano, returns to the fore in a recent interview with Bertin Osborne for his program “Mi casa es la tuya”, broadcast by the Spanish channel Telecinco.

“I only talk about the beautiful”: ex-vocalist of Mecano gives his opinion on the subject of Shakira and proposes to Piqué to write a song so that he can also “invoice”

Although he remains active as a businessman and musician, there was a moment in his career when he immersed himself in addictions and today, at the age of 60, he speaks openly outside the shadow that once shrouded him.

The excesses of the Madrid scene involved the musician, who now admits that at the time they did not have much information and that “festivals were held without end.”

“There was management and indigestion. They were years in which there was no measure. There was no information and practically all of my first group died,” he recalled to Bertín Osborne.

The excesses were so great that at the age of 23 he suffered a collapse while in London. This would have been the episode that made him open his eyes after falling into the addiction of psychotropic substances, review Sports world.

“I tried everything. The luck that I had that my intense years were few and at 23 I was unemployed from the crazy life, ”she mentioned about his story.

But Osborne wanted to know more about Meccano, so he insisted on asking why the successful trio broke up.

“We each went somewhere and did our projects. One day my brother said that the group was over and until today, ”he replied.

The one who was one of the most famous members of the group in Spain also opened up about his relationship with his brother José María, whom he recalled that they spent their childhood together and that they had fun whenever they could. They had a good sibling relationship “until the group’s fame came” and everything got complicated.

What did Nacho Cano say about the return of Mecano?

Nacho Cano was clear when referring to Mecano. The Spanish pop genre group saw its fruits in the 1980s and early 1990s, while their success spread throughout Latin America.

In 1998 the separation was officially finalized and since then there have been those who dream of reliving that time with great successes such as “Hijos de la luna”, “Cruz de navaja” or “La fuerza del destino”.

Ana Torroja reveals the pain that Mecano caused in her life

Although the last word has not been said, for Nacho Cano there is no hope of a reunion.

“I don’t think Mecano will come back because the life of each one is already very… thrown by different detours, and because that was what it was, as it was, in a context that was what it was, it was very good in the sense musical”, Cano said in an excerpt from the interview that Telecinco has also reviewed on his Instagram account.

The musician opened his heart and was honest with these words, thus confirming what he had already mentioned in a previous interview on “El Hormiguero” in May 2022.

“They were very fun years, very beasts, and then they were some magical years and the music has remained there,” he said at that time before the presenter Pablo Motos insisted if he really “will never get back together Mecano.”

“There are things that are magical, that are in time, that begin and end in a wonderful way and then begin to get tangled up because humanity is like that, no. Mecano went and left a legacy there that continues and will continue, I’ll probably die and the other two too, and the songs continue to play, but it’s difficult for us to get together, ”he stressed in that conversation last year.
