The OFGC celebrates its 30th anniversary of School Concerts

The Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra celebrate this season 2022-2023 the 30 years from the beginning of the school concerts with a varied program that includes some of the most significant milestones of these three decades.

Is about nine proposals organized by age groups and educational level, specially designed for school groups: four symphonic programs, three medium and small format proposals and an itinerant program conceived to be presented mainly in Rural Schools Y Unitarian Schools.

In addition, it is completed with training workshops and additional activities, as indicated by the vice president of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation, Pedro Justo Brito, during a press conference.

In this sense, the school concerts reach 18,000 students from 150 centers in the 21 municipalities of Gran Canariaas well as 4,500 families and 300 teachers.

In addition, for this year’s season there have been 40,000 applications, but it will only be able to reach 23,000 people.

The program school concerts of the OFGC It is aimed at all public and private Infant, Primary and Secondary schools in Gran Canaria.

Its purpose is educate to create a new, more critical and more participatory audience, with a special musical sensitivity; motivate schoolchildren to appreciate the musical phenomenon in an entertaining, fun, continuous way, as well as rigorous, and establish direct relationships with music, its language, its message, its poetry and its environment.

It takes place throughout the school year, with specific concerts for each educational stage.

Participation in the 2022-23 program

The stake in this program requires that the centers be involved in all its phases: firstly, the advance preparation with the students in the classroom, for which they are provided with didactic material; Second, during the concert, in which they will have to guarantee the adequate behavior of the students; and thirdly, after the concert, with the monitoring and evaluation of the activity.

For the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0-3 years) the programming for this season includes “Lullabies on the Branches”from May 26 to 28, 2023.

Likewise, the second cycle of Early Childhood Education and the first cycle of Primary Education (3-8 years) will participate in «The journey of San Borondón», from March 14 to 17, 2023

For the second cycle of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education (3-12 years), a “The Swinger Jungle” traveling concert from February to June 2023.

Similarly, for the second and third cycle of Primary Education (8-12 years) “The Mote of Dust”from October 25 to 28, 2022; «I, composer», from February 2 to 3, 2023 and “My name is Guy” from April 18 to 21, 2023.

Secondary Education students (12-16 years old) will participate with “The Movie Explainer”from February 7 to 10, 2023, and “Pictures at an exhibition”from March 22 to 24, 2023.
