The new Cuban invention: A horn in a plastic knob

The “famous inventiveness” of Cubans has just brought to light a new product that circulates on social networks such as “latest model stereo” and consists of a small player connected to a speaker embedded in a plastic knob.

The invention plays at full volume in a Tik Tok video in which two young Cubans “promote” the product, playing an orchestra playing Cuban music on the loudspeaker and one of them dances holding the bottle while demonstrating the simple design of their product and its operation.

Recorded in what appears to be the “inventor’s” workshop, the author of the video promotes the device, saying that it “charges”, while his partner shows the power source input and what appears to be a small radio or sound player attached to the rear of the plastic knob.

“When they say that Cubans invent more than Chinese… this is what I mean”, commented a user. “The country of innovation… we are geniuses,” joked another. “Not even NASA surpasses us,” said a third.

“Where do they sell that asere? It doesn’t come out on Amazon”; “If NASA catches him, they hire him right away”; “The Cubans with their good humor”; “The award of the year”; “I thought I had seen it all, until today”; other users said in the comments.

At the end of August, a Cuban presented on social networks a homemade fan that works with waterdesigned to alleviate the intense heat of summer, in the midst of the constant and long blackouts it suffers.

“Since they are taking the power from us every once in a while, then when the power goes out, I put on my water sprinkler fan and that way I can live a little quietly,” says Abel Garlobo in a video shared on Facebook.

A month earlier, another Cuban overwhelmed by prolonged blackouts designed a fan with a spotlight to ensure that her little son fell asleep at night.

Identified as Amauri Lincheta, the man presented his invention on Facebook, saying that the fan works with lithium batteries and a light bulb. “Look, tremendous cool, gentleman,” said the innovator excitedly.

Posed as “solutions” to the problems they face in daily life, the “inventiveness” of the Cubans awakened in one of them the idea of developing a “vacuum cleaner to pick rice”.

It happened in 2020, just when complaints were frequent on networks about the amount of stones, earth, straw and other garbage that sellers add to grains, in markets and warehouses across the country.

Designed with recycled materials, the vacuum cleaner had a thin hose that lets nothing but garbage through, as long as it is used with precision. The device was also used to choose other grains, according to its creator.
