The classic French heavy metal band Sortilège is back with a new line-up and an album of re-recorded songs –

The new line-up of the classic French heavy metal band SPELL will release an album, “Phoenix”, on August 27th via Verycords/Warner. The effort includes 12 re-recorded songs from the SPELL catalog plus two new tracks.

“Phoenix” was mixed by the band and Anthony Arconte and dominated by Ted Jensen a Estudios Sterling Sound.

A re-recorded version of the song. “Spell”, taken from “Phoenix”, can be streamed below.

SPELLThe current lineup includes only the singer Christian «Zouille» Augustin of the classic line-up of the band.

Formed in 1981, SPELL released a self-titled EP in 1983 and followed it up with an amazing debut album, “Metamorphose”, one year later. The two releases quickly gained cult status, and are now known as some of the biggest, if not the biggest, heavy metal releases from France.

Even if SPELLAll of the original albums included French lyrics (as did virtually all French metal albums in the ’80s), English versions of the band’s two albums (“Metamorphose” y 1986’s “Hero’s Tears”) were also made available.

SPELL was one of DEATH Leader Chuck Schuldinerfavorite bands, and proudly sported their SPELL T-shirt at various concerts before his untimely passing in 2001.

SPELL 2021 is:

Christian «Zouille» Augustin – Voice

Olivier Spitzer – guitar

Bruno Ramos – guitar

Sebastien Bonnet (ZUUL FX) – Bajo

Clement Rouxel (ZUUL FX) – Drums
