Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl joined The Breeders on stage to perform the Pixies classic ‘Gigantic’ at a benefit concert this weekend (November 13). The musicians were part of the lineup at this year’s veterans benefit, Vets Aid, along with Nine Inch Nails and The Black Keys. The event took place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.
While the Foo Fighters frontman didn’t perform his own set, he was involved in a number of performances by other acts, including playing guitar and backing vocals for Kim Deal’s rendition of the Pixies’ 1988 song “Gigantic.”
In the six-hour show, Grohl performed with Joe Walsh’s The James Gang (who founded the charity in 2017), including drumming on ‘Funk #49’ and ‘Rocky Mountain Way,’ and guitar for ‘Life’s Been Good. ‘.
Last week, Grohl also performed ‘Easy’ with Lionel Richie at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. The recent performances follow a pair of September tribute concerts in memory of the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in London and Los Angeles.
After celebrating Hawkins’ memory and music with a special six-hour concert in London on September 3, ‘The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert’ took over the Kia Forum in Los Angeles at the end of the month with a host of invited guests. specials including Queen, Miley Cyrus, Alanis Morissette. and many more.
Walsh also led the reunited James Gang at the London tribute, which marked the group’s first performance in 16 years. On the show, Grohl promised fans “a gigantic fucking night for a gigantic fucking person.”
