TGI announced that in 12 hours the gas service would begin to be restored to homes

in the field of Cerro Bravovia Manizales-Bogota, took place a Unified Command Post attended by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, and other authorities of the departmental and national order, with the purpose of verifying the current situation by the suspension of gas service and progress in work in that area.

In that order of ideas, the transporter of Gas International (TGI) announced that in 12 hours the service would begin to be restored domestic gas to homes, in 24 hours to the commercial sector and up to 48 hours in the industrial sector.

Monica Villarrealwho is the president of the TGI, stated that “yesterday we were able to do two fundamental activities the apiques or trenches in the area, we reached the tube and we could realize that it is in perfect condition at temperatures that we can work”.

In the same way, he pointed out that they began to inject pressure into the tube at 450 pounds of pressure. “With these pounds right now, starting at 9:00 in the morning, they could safely inject a little bit of gas into the system and restore orderly service”.

It should be noted that, since last weekend and for The high temperatures who were registered on the side of the mountain of Cerro Bravo, Natural gas was preventively suspended for five departments in southwestern Colombia.

Likewise, a thermal anomalywhich is being monitored, threatens the integrity of the TGI International Gas Transport pipeline. For this reason, it was gas supply suspended for the departments of Tolima, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca.

Colombian Geological Service analyzed the anomaly: what did it find?

After a visit by specialists from the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) to the area of ​​the anomaly and its surroundings, it was possible to establish that only at that point the high concentrations of methane gas (CH4)which are higher than those that this gas usually has in volcanic areas.

It was also confirmed that, at the point of the anomaly, “the soil registers high temperaturesclose to the 700 degrees centigradeas TGI reported it last Friday.”

This information allowed the entity rule out that the anomaly is related to the activity of the Cerro Bravo volcano, which is in Green level (active, but at rest). Likewise, it was reported that the characteristics of the CH4 methane reported by the SGC do not correspond to the properties of the gas transported by TGI.
