Despite having taken a break due to military service, bts It continues to be a global phenomenon. Their numbers, recognitions and world records speak for themselves, even separately.

Min Yoon Gibetter known as suga, is one of the BTS members who has worked the most on his own throughout his 10 years in the music industry. In 2016, while the Korean group released their albums Youth and wingsthe musician launched August D, his first studio album as a soloist, which was enormously received by the public and specialized critics. It took four years for Suga to re-embark on another production without his bandmates. titled D-2this album reiterated the ability as a performer and as a composer of the Korean musician.

This album was also highlighted by a controversial theme titled What Do You Think? who sampled a speech from Jim Jones, the famous cult leader who convinced his followers to commit mass suicide. When the producer Big Hit realized whose voice was playing on the song, they ended up removing the sample, and despite everything, the record was a success.

Three years later, and prior to serving in the military, the musician has announced the release of his third studio album as a soloist, which will be called D-Day. For this separate musical facet of BTS, Yoon-Gi has chosen to say goodbye to the nickname “Suga” and call himself August Da name that references his birthplace, Daegu, and Suga’s nickname spelled backwards.

This album will be released on April 21.and as part of the album’s promotion, the artist confirmed last February that he would embark on a global tour, the first one that one of the BTS does in a “solitary” way. There will be a total of 19 concerts that “Agust D” gave in cities in Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and the United States; the tour will start on april 26 and conclude on june 25. As expected, the tour has been a total success and all the tickets are already sold out, especially in the United States, where the Ticketmaster ticket office announced that it was not possible to make a general sale due to the historical demand that was experienced during the pre-sale of the 13 concerts that Yoon-Gi will give in the North American country.

And to generate even more expectation with the solo project of the Yoon-Gi artist, Disney+ shared on March 31 Suga: Road to D-Daya documentary that will seek to take a much more intimate look at the pop idol, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery through the United States and Japan.

As the second-oldest member of BTS, Suga will be enlisting in the military at the end of 2023. South Koreans generally serve at the age of 21, however, the country allows prominent figures to uphold the name of Korea. of the South delay their service, this being the case of Suga and previously Jimin, the first member of BTS who has had to enlist in the ranks of the Korean army.

However, it seems that the k-pop idol will not have to touch any weapons, as his service will be limited to being a social services agent. There has not been an official statement as to why this situation has been taken, since the same production company refused to provide the artist’s private data, however, this was great news for the artist’s fans who were relieved that Suga did not have to risk his life.

It will be between 18 and 21 months that Min Yoon-Gi spends in the ranks of the army, and taking into account that the rest of the band members are still expected to serve, BTS would return to the stage and the studio probably in 2025.
