Shakira released the song “Te congratulations” in collaboration with Rauw Alejandro on April 21. “To complete you I broke into pieces, they warned me, but I didn’t listen”, are the words with which she begins the first verse.
And, although at the beginning there were conflicting opinions between those who affirmed that it was a hint for Gerard Piqué – the Colombian’s then partner – and those who did not agree because the relationship seemed quite stable, the first position was confirmed with the officialization of the rupture between both celebrities announced on June 4.
Although Shakira and Piqué have been under the gaze of their followers, not only because of the soccer player’s controversy with his new partner or because of the legal issues that the singer is going through for tax evasion, but because of the interest that each of them does.
On this occasion, “I congratulate you” draws attention again for a new version.
First version of the video
The first video of “I congratulate you” begins with the Puerto Rican receiving a greeting card in which a clown sings to him “because you are a great liar and no one can deny it.” In it, a robot also appears – from the second 0:58 – that could represent Piqué due to the romantic way in which he relates to the artist.
“Sorry, I don’t ride that bike anymore. People with two faces, I can’t stand it”, say the verses that users relate to the separation of Shakira and Piqué.
In an interview, the singer revealed that, before recording the video clip, she shared the song with her children, Sasha and Milan, and asked them to close their eyes to let their imagination run wild. They suggested the robot and the green fire that appears when the interpreter pronounces the verse “you treat me like one more of your cravings”.
A hint for Piqué and Clara Chía Martí?
Shakira surprised her followers with the publication of an alternative video for this song, which takes place entirely inside a cabin of colored lights and was part of the first version.
“Your wound did not open my skin, but it did open my eyes. I have them red from crying for you so much and now it turns out that you feel it”, is a stanza that makes sense for those who assure that it was an infidelity that led the couple to end twelve years of relationship.
In the second version of the video – at minute 1:49 – Shakira is shown making a sign similar to the one her ex-partner does to celebrate a goal. A few years ago, the footballer would have explained that with the fingers of both hands he makes a “two, two”, referring to February 2, the singer’s birthday.
Gerard Piqué has also given something to talk about with his recent appearance with Clara Chía Martí, a Public Relations student and collaborator of one of the footballer’s companies. It was on August 12 that a photo went viral in which they were seen walking together and, a few days later, a video revealed the first kiss in public.
Shakira changed the cover of “I fell in love”
In 2017, the Colombian singer released a song that she dedicated to Piqué, entitled “Me enamoré”, under the label of Sony MusicEntertainment. “I thought ‘this is still a child, but what am I going to do to him’, it’s what he was looking for”, referring to the fact that the footballer is ten years younger than her.
And in the last week, Internet users noticed the cover change of this song, in which the same robot from “I congratulate you” now appears.
Gerard Piqué denounces media harassment
On September 1, the soccer player announced through a statement published by his lawyers’ office that he would take legal action after suffering “interference that goes beyond the limits of legality” after he made his separation official and emphasized that they have “violated the rights” of their children.
“Many rumors and alleged unverified information have been published about the player, his family and his personal and, therefore, private life. These reports and images cause not only damage to his honor and damage to his image, but also a serious attack on the rights of his children, ”says the document.
