The eighth edition of the Reggae Can Festival, the most international of all, hosts this Tuesday, September 6, at 11:30 a.m.a meeting for women in the Canarian music industry.

Aimed at artists, cultural managers, producers, journalists and technicians, among others, this meeting is held in the former convent of Santo Domingo de La Laguna with free access until full capacity is reached, which for this occasion is set at 50 people.

In an informal and relaxed meeting, a brief dynamic presentation of each participant will be followed to encourage a talk among all and share the experience lived in the music industry.

This activity is included in the program No woman, no crylike the workshop Deconstruction of Reggaeton, given in the same venue at 5:30 p.m. by the graduate in Sociology and Dj Esteban Pérez. The day begins at 09:30 am with the recycling workshop for the elderly ‘Las 4 R’, given by Carmen Delia Martín.

The most international edition

This eighth edition of the Reggae Can Festival is one of the most international, since it not only features the Italian group Mellow Mood, formed in 2005 by the twins Jacobo and Lorenzo Garzia, but also Canarian artists such as Dactah Chando who have triumphed at the international level. national and international, participating in the main Reggae festivals (Weed Beat Festival; Östroda Reggae Festival; Rototom Sunsplash; Viñarock; or Cabo de Plata) and performing with renowned artists on the national scene such as Macaco, Guido Craveiro, Roberto Sanchez, or Toby Nambur.

Another of the bands that has managed to bring Reggae made in the Canary Islands to the world is the veteran Eclipse Reggae, which in its 25-year history has shared the stage with numerous national and international artists such as ‘The Original Wailers’, Alpha Blondy, Gentleman, and Inner Circle, among others.

Similarly, Ruts & La Isla Music stands out, which in these 20 years in the music industry has participated in festivals such as Rototom Sunsplash, Womad de Fuerteventura, or Arn Blue & Green, among others. In addition, he has opened concerts for legendary artists such as the English band UB40 and has shared the stage with Juanes, Macaco, Gentleman, and Chojin.

Added to them is the emerging Canarian artist Isa Izquierdo, who composes, writes and sings her own songs in English, and the DJs Monterreina and Esteban Pérez.

A free festival for all audiences

This festival, which is free and accessible to all types of audiences, has great references of reggae in the Canary Islands, as well as national and international artists such as Mellow Mood or Genis Trani.

The Reggae Can Festival encourages, promotes and makes visible reggae made in the Canary Islands, as well as being a quality showcase for creators, composers, singers, musicians, DJs, bands and dancers from the Archipelago, to show their artistic works of their own creation.
