Rapper Coolio, singer of Gangsta’s Paradise, has died

The song Coolio will be remembered for is Gangsta’s Paradise.

This September 28, the death of the rapper was announced coolie at age 59, as reported by his manager Jarez Posey to the agency AFP. Police sources confirmed his death after going to the home of one of his friends located in Los Angeles United States.

At the moment the cause of death of this singer has not been determined, however, the paramedics who attended the place of death suspect that Artis Leon Ivey Jr. — his full name — could have suffered a heart attack, according to TMZ.

The success of coolie it reached its peak in the 1990s although his career began in the late 1980s. The singer’s most popular song was Gangsta’s Paradise, which is considered a hymn within this musical genre by many of its fans, as it was the first rap song to be recognized as the Billboard Number One in 1995.

During the 34th edition of the Grammy Awards, Coolio received recognition for the Best Rap Performance with the theme Gangsta’s Paradisewhich was also nominated for Best Song, but lost to Kiss From a Rose of Seal.

However, the iconic theme is also remembered for having been part of the soundtrack of Dangerous Minds (1995) which in Latin America was known as Dangerous minds and was starred by Michelle Pfeiffer.

Coolio was also the interpreter of Aw, Here It Goesthe theme song for Kenan & Kelan iconic series from 1996 that was broadcast in Latin America through the channel Nickelodeon and was also part of the night bar Nick at Nite.

Coolio’s last post on his Instagram account was a snippet from his presentation at ACL Livethe event that took place 6 days ago in austin, texas.

However, a video of almost 19 minutes with memorable moments of what seems to be Coolio’s last concert has already been published on his official Instagram account, the person who now manages the profile did not place any description; but among the comments he highlighted Kickstradomis Customswho wrote: “RIP LEGEND” (Rest in Peace, LEGEND).

Other successes of Coolio were Fantastic Voyage of 1994, which even reached Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, It’s All the Way Live (now); west-up! Y See you when you get there.

Coolio spent much of his life in Compton, Calif., according to its official website. A year before her music career took off, she explained to Los Angeles Times that rapping was his way of getting away from substance use:
