Miguel Rafael Martos Sánchez, better known as RaphaelHe was born in the city of Linares on May 5, 1943.
Raphael is an artist not only known nationally but internationally for being one of the pioneers of the romantic ballad in Spain and in the Hispanic American countries.
His launch as a music star occurred in the early 1960s. He expressed in an interview conducted by the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation RTVE that the artists who directly influenced his style were Pedro Infante, Elvis Presley, Carlos Gardel, Manolo Caracol, Luisa Ortega, Fosforito and Adriano Celentano, whom he used to listen to with great frequency during his childhood and adolescence, at the same time stated that he also listened to Édith Piaf and Juanita Reina.
In 1966 and 1967 he was in charge of representing Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with the songs “I am that one” and “Let’s talk about love”, occupying the 7th and 6th positions, respectively.
In 1969, he performed in the great hall of Madison Square Garden, in New York, where he sang before 48,000 people, making him the first Spanish-speaking singer to perform at this venue.
In 1982 he received a uranium record for the sales of more than 50 million records during his musical career.
Currently, he is considered one of the most active singers of the so-called “romantic ballad divos”, touring all over America and Europe, broadcasting for 60 years of artistic career.
