Perhaps if you had to find only two words to describe the XXVII Christmas Concert of Ports of Tenerife, which will take place just a week from now, on the 25th (9:00 p.m.), at the Dock of Los Llanos from the port of the capital of Tenerife, these would be Return Y solidarity. Well, just about that, to celebrate the return of a traditional event, which last year had to be canceled for the first time due to the pandemic, and to celebrate again the spirit of solidarity, this time with the victims of the volcanic eruption of La Palma , this initiative goes. Of that, and to enjoy good music.
All this was very present yesterday by the participants in the presentation of the initiative, together with Correíllo La Palma. An act that was attended by the president of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Authority, Carlos González; the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, the insular councilor for Culture, Enrique Arriaga, and the insular director of this same department, Alejandro Krawietz; the mayor of the Tenerife capital, José Manuel Bermúdez; the director of RTVE in the Canary Islands, Domingo Álvarez, the coordinator and presenter of the concert, Ana Molowny, and, on behalf of the sponsors, Javier Climent, corporate director of the Boluda group, and Amayra Peñate Valdivieso, of the DISA Foundation.
The Port Authority faces a musical meeting that will be drastically modified compared to other editions to comply with the protocols against COVID-19. With the motto We come back, repeats prominence Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST), with its honorary director, Víctor Pablo Pérez, at the helm, and the participation as soloist of the Tenerife tenor Airam Hernandez. The program that will be addressed is made up of very recognizable pieces, such as In fantasy (Ennio Morricone), Star Wars Suite for Orchestra (John Williams), Alfonsina and the sea (Ariel Ramírez) or Malagueña (Ernesto Lecuona).
Unlike other occasions, and taking into account the level of epidemiological alert, the concert’s capacity must be reduced to 1,000 people. Initially, with level 2, active until Thursday, it stood at 3,000 spectators. This reduction is contemplated in the specific authorization for a meeting of these characteristics issued by the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), after the presentation, by Puertos de Tenerife, of the respective contagion prevention and self-protection plans.
Also for this reason, the sale of tickets through the Internet has been adopted. Tickets must be purchased at www.tomaticket.es, at the price of three euros. With a maximum purchase of four tickets per person, your purchase will be nominal. That is, indicating the name of the person who will attend the concert, as well as other information such as their email address and contact telephone number. The link to download the tickets will be operational from Monday, at 12 noon, on the website www.conciertodenavidad.org.es.
The proceeds will go to the population of La Palma affected by the volcanic eruption. In addition, the DISA Foundation once again increases the solidarity component of the concert by contributing 20,000 euros to the initiative All with La Palma, supported by Puertos del Estado. Boluda Corporación Marítima, one of the main sponsors in the 26 editions of the concert, contributes 17,552 euros, in addition to collaborating again with the containers that shape the enclosure of the stage. The Port Authority has made a great effort to carry out this event and for this, he emphasizes, it is “essential the decisive commitment” of institutions such as the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Santa Cruz City Council, the Fairgrounds and the Symphony of Tenerife itself, in addition to the collaboration of the private sector.
Those who cannot attend the concert will be able to follow it live through Spanish Television in the Canary Islands and National Radio of Spain. It will also be offered through the website of the Port Authority, www.puertosdetenerife.org, and the website of the celebration itself, www.conciertodenavidad.org.es. Likewise, the social networks of the Port Authority will echo what happens in front of and behind the stage with the hashtag #ConciertoNavidadTf, broadcasting it live via Facebook.
Puertos de Tenerife reminds those who attend the concert of the need to travel in advance and occupy their seats, showing up at least one hour before the scheduled time.
