NCT means Neo Culture Technology and it is the result of the work of the company SM Entertainment, considered one of the companies that have promoted the career of several Korean pop groups inside and outside Asia.

NCT 127 is just one of the groups that are part of NCT; the other sub units are NCT U, NCT Dream, and Way V, but here we are only going to talk about NCT 127.

Before the official formation of the group, all the members of NCT 127, Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, YutaDoyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan, were part of SM Rookies which is a training team of young people who yearn to be idols within music and popular culture.

The official debut of the group was in July 2016. Their first music video was “Fire Truck” and the live performances began. Soon after they released their second song, “Once Again”, which would later be included in the band’s first EP titled NCT #127.

In their debut year, NCT 127 received awards and nominations at major South Korean galas such as the Asia Artist Awards, Seoul Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, Mnet Asian Music Awards, and the Gaon Chart Music Awards. However, it was in 2020 when the band made its leap to the big international leagues and were nominated for an important award in the United States, a vital market for the k pop have a strong impact on the rest of the countries of America. NCT 127 was a finalist for ‘Social Artist of the Year’ and although they didn’t win, it did help their media impact.

NCT 127 It has achieved several records on the Billboard charts and that is why many fans of the movement recognize its importance within K-pop. Their albums have been on the major charts and have led to the band embarking on major North American tours. Unfortunately, the Covid 19 pandemic slowed down the accelerated momentum that the band was bringing.

Between 2021 and 2023 the band has offered its second world tour: Neo City – The Link. The tour started in December 2021 in South Korea. In 2022 he went through Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, the United States, Indonesia and Thailand.

A part of the world tour is Latin America with three concerts in Brazilone in Chilione in Colombia and one in the Mexico City.

The band continues to generate success and their most recent album, “2 BADIES” has a strong penchant for R&B and hip hop; all performed in Korean.
