“To never see you again”, “We all have a love”, “I want to eat your mouth”, “I want to give you”… Surely many readers, of at least two or three generations, seeing these titles corresponding to famous songs, some from the 90s and others from the first decade of the 2000s, experience one of the feelings most closely linked to music forever: nostalgia.

They are songs, all very successful at the time, full of rhythms and sounds of diverse genres, and apparently distant, such as pop, ska, cumbia, rock, tango and even salsa, among others, from the group Argentina La Mosca, led since its inception by guitarist and singer Guillermo Novellis.

Regarding the return of the band to Colombia, The viewer He chatted with the musician, who said: “We are going to play all those songs that you know; those songs that have made us happy, both us and the public that has followed us for all these years”.

Other readers, perhaps younger and less familiar with this list of songs, are probably curious to know why after so many years, and the evident changes in the music industry in the last two decades, these musicians remain so current. among an audience that continues to admire and enjoy his musical proposal.

In this regard, Novellis commented: “Our songs hit very hard in the hearts and in the collective unconscious of the people. They are memories that will be indelible because they are part of our history: with what we grew up with and with what we matured. Our music is tied to some of a lot of people’s happiest moments.”

One of the main reasons for the existence of so-called theme or retro parties emerges from this feeling, as they symbolize the desire to return to a time, although long gone, very pleasantly remembered.

And what better way to bring it to the present than with music. In that sense, La Mosca, like other groups that have survived and are still in force despite all the attacks that a career like music implies, is a perfect catalyst for these desires. His tools to achieve this are his songs, loaded with a unique fusion of cultures and sonorities.

“The show is going to be very emotional, because precisely what we are looking for in these retro parties is to promote a reunion with the music of our time. We, like Vilma Palma e Vampiros, Los Auténticos Decadentes and Los Hombres G, among other bands, are still in force and very present in an audience that already extends to several generations. All that music from the ’80s and ’90s, and also into the 2000s, filled an important space in artistic and cultural terms,” Novellis said.

But not only nostalgia is the link that unites the public with this band, because above all it is the musical quality that they have been able to maintain, with tenacity and a lot of passion, which has allowed them to remain connected with the people.

“Obviously, we have done something right. Time is relentless and time puts everything in its place: love stories, people who have been important, and also songs and bands that have been important by definition. If we have survived in the memory and hearts of the people all these years it is because we did something worthwhile”.

From a very young age, Guillermo Novellis cultivated his passion for music, a fact that ultimately led to him starting this project in 1995, which will soon celebrate three decades of existence. About his leadership and participation in what has been the history of La Mosca, the artist commented: “I am the main composer of the band, but the participation of the other musicians is also fundamental: they are very good instrumentalists and have forged themselves listening to a lot of music and they have many influences: rock, jazz, cumbia or carnival”.

Likewise, the artist highlighted that the band’s music is made “with songs that have a nice melody, that can be sung, with which you can also dance, jump and jump to be, for example, at a good party or rumba with friends. Honestly, I love that people remember our songs with such fondness and that they are so valid”.

La Mosca is certainly one of the most appreciated and remembered groups in Latin America. They are many years, through their musical successes, giving people joy and enthusiasm. It has also been a time in which the only invariable thing has been the passion and taste for the craft of creating music, since other aspects have been changing in positive terms.

This is how the artist referred to the subject: “We have matured: there are very important things that also have a place in our lives; the family, for example. Although it is true that when La Mosca started I already had children, some of my colleagues are going through very important and beautiful moments with their family. Our priorities are still linked to music, but maturity has brought us that other type of responsibilities to see life less chaotically and a little more organized”.

On his return to the country, Novellis concluded: “We are very happy to be able to continue interpreting those songs that are so dear to us and extremely happy to be able to continue meeting our public in Colombia. I know we are going to have a great time in your beautiful country.”
