The Icelandic-born coach commented: “We are in the same process that Tena is doing with Guatemala. Many players are for the first time with Jamaica and I feel like they are growing every time we play. There are more players we want and we have several options”.

The support of the Guatemalan fans
When asked what was one of the reasons or strategies that led Jamaica to the semifinals of the 2023 Gold Cup, the coach said: “At first we treated Guatemala with great respect. We show them our whole game.”
He argued: “The Guatemalan support (fans) I think that in the end that was the key. We knew what we were facing. Destroying the fans was motivation (for the team) ”.

Concacaf confirmed the matches and schedule for the 2023 Gold Cup semifinals. Both matches will be played on July 12, with Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego hosting United States-Panama (5:30 p.m. GT), followed by Jamaica- Mexico at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (8:00 p.m. GT).
The winners of the semifinals will advance to the final, scheduled for Sunday, July 16 at SoFi Stadium in the Los Angeles metropolitan area (5:30 p.m. GT).
