What are the musical premieres of the week?

Gorillaz – Cracker Island

“It’s nice to be back, I love the new song, it brings back strange and scary memories of things that haven’t happened yet,” commented 2D, about the release that paves the way for the imminent arrival of a new album from the animated band.

Lamb of God – Omens

The band’s lead singer, Randy Blythe, stated of the song that “many of the messes we humans find ourselves in could very easily be prevented simply by paying attention to obvious repetitive patterns, both in our personal lives and in a socio-historical context.” What some call ‘foreshadowing’ are really just manifestations of the fact that there is nothing new under the sun. It’s silly to ignore this, but we all do.”

Morat – Worth More

With pure lyrics based on learning without remorse, the Colombian band suggests rethinking priorities in a world full of masks and falsehoods, especially in the anonymous space of the internet. This hymn to sincerity strikes at our shelter, frees us from all camouflage and reveals the light for us to move forward with everything that is worth more, which is also usually off the screens that often monopolize our attention.

Behemoth – The Deathless Sun

The song, the third single from the twelfth album Opvs Contra Natvram, came with not one, but two accompanying audiovisual productions: an explicit and macabre narrative video, featuring the aesthetic for which Behemoth is famous as a band, and a clip action of the same magnitude.

Ghost – Spillways

The band led by Tobias Forge presents a disturbing music video for their single Spillways, a song that appears on their latest album, Impera, released earlier this year.

Rodrigo y Gabriela – Weird Fishes/Arpeggi

The duo delivered an ambitious new version of Radiohead’s classic Weird Fishes/Arpeggi. Rodrigo explains that those commanded by Thor Yorke “evolved from being an Alt band, to being a cool band, to being a really interesting band – until last year while I was having a coffee in one of my restaurants that I have in Mexico, it started to “Weird Fishes” playing in the background. I knew it was them, but I didn’t know the song, and when I came out I immediately looked it up on Spotify. As soon as I heard it loud and clear I knew we had to do a Rodrigo y Gabriela version. A day or two later , I showed it to Gab and she was as hooked as I was. It’s a very elaborate song if you want to play it like them. But we were happy with the result.”

Brooklyn Funk Essentials – Scream

Scream is a contagious and inspiring funk and afrobeat improvisation, with a syncopated groove wrapped in powerful horns and percussion in the Tower Of Power style, with lyrics in which Alison Limerick alludes to freedom of expression.
