The role of women in music has been unfairly forgotten in study plans and programming. Even today it is unusual to find names of female composers in many concerts. For this reason, three artists of international prestige, the tenor Manuel Gomez Ruizthe mezzo-soprano anna tonna and the pianist Isabel Dobarro join forces to claim this interesting repertoire, promoting its dissemination through their performances.

So the day September 9 at 7:00 p.m. Otto-Braun-Saal Ibero-American Institute of Berlin and the September 10 at 7:00 p.m. Mendelssohn-Haus Leipzig offer two concerts with works by Spanish and German composers.

The German composers will be represented by the romantic creators Clara Schuman Y Fanny Hensell, as well as Charlotte Seither and Ingrid Stölzel, who will show the latest compositional trends in the country. For its part, Spanish music will be present through pieces by Eugenie of Osterberger, Maria Rodrigo and of the current composers Diana Perez Custodio, Sonia Megias, Maria Alvear Y Maria Eugenia Leon. A program that celebrates the relevant contributions of women to classical music and the cultural connections between both nations.

In addition to the two concerts, educational material has been developed fanny’s wings in collaboration with Patricia Garcia Sanchez as writer and Mari Carmen Pichardo as illustrator, with the design of Arrecife Studio.

The concerts are sponsored by the Embassy of Spain in Germany, forming part of its annual cultural program. The Ibero-American Institute of Berlin, the Mendelssohn Foundation and the mobility program of the Government of the Canary Islands Canarias Crea collaborate.
