Glenn Hughes talks about THE DEAD DAISIES. JOURNEY’s Neal Schon Talks Singer Arnel Pineda .CARCASS Full Concert at Alcatraz Metal Festival 2022

The singer and bassist of THE DEAD DAISIES , Glenn Hughes, was forced to miss several shows on the band’s 2022 summer European tour in late July and early August after testing positive for COVID-19. For the concerts, Dino Jelusick (WHITESNAKE) took over lead vocals while Yogi Lonich played bass.

Speaking to Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF radio station, Hughes stated of his battle with COVID-19 (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I was the last of the band to get it, so when I got it, I thought, ‘ Well, how many more are going to get it? I was pretty sick, so there was no way I could have continued touring. So I’m glad the band got a chance to continue… Jelusick and Lonich did very well, and they came really unannounced, and they did a remarkable job. I support everyone so they can continue and deliver on the commitment.”

“It was an 11-week tour, and it’s a long time for anyone, anyone my age, especially in this weather. A lot of bands are pulling out, cancelling, people getting COVID everywhere; God bless them, but we were able to continue and deliver.” with our commitment.

In a new interview with Brazilian journalist Igor Miranda, the guitarist for JOURNEY, Neal Schönwhat it has been like to work with singer Arnel Pineda for the past 15 years.

Neal Schön responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Arnel is a gem. He is more amazing now than when I first met him in Manila 15 years ago, when he was homeless and in dire straits. He was looking for the new singer to JOURNEY and I chose YouTube to search for the singer all over the world. When I heard his voice, I knew it was him, without a second thought. I was moved and said, “That’s the voice. He is the voice. I know he can do it.” And so I stood my ground, despite discrepancies, within the band and the management. Everyone thought I was crazy. I said, ‘I know I’m right. So bring him in here.’ proved me right again.”

Neal Schön He continued: “Then I knew when I found Arnel that I had found a true chameleon like no other singer I had ever heard. He is amazing. I adore him. He is a true warrior.”

Born in the Philippines, Pineda has led JOURNEY since 2007 when Schon discovered him leading a cover band from Manila on YouTube.
