This week hundreds of followers of Gepe gathered at a famous record store in Mexico City to get an autograph and a photo with the talented Chilean artist, who in 2021 was nominated for latin grammy in the category of best alternative song.

In a chat with Infobae Mexicothe musician and singer-songwriter was excited to return to the Mexican stage to present his new production, Realismwhich has strong ties with Mexico.

Cheerful and loose, like the rhythm of his most popular songs, the singer revealed some details of his upcoming concerts at the CDMX, Guadalajara and TijuanaHe also announced the names of some of his special guests at the shows, not without leaving room for other surprises for his followers.

I was very excited. After so long that I hadn’t come, people are still listening to me and going to the concerts

Although a little surprised by the enormous affection he received on his return to Aztec lands, Gepe reflected that the connection created with the public of our country it is not a stroke of good fortune. Excited, he remembered that the Mexican culture played an important role during his childhood in Chilewhere you could listen to both the rancheras and the rock of the band led by Ruben Albarran.

Since I was born, Mexican music has always been heard, Mexican cinema from the 1950s. Somehow we have adopted the Mexican culture and that is very interesting and very beautiful.

He added that during the heyday of rock en español, groups like Café Tacvba also became classics from Chilecountry where another emblematic band was born that in parallel influenced Mexico: The three.

For the Mexican public, the Chilean language is not something so difficult to understand, because we also have Mexican codes.

A) Yes, Daniel Riveros (real name of Gepe) account that it was somewhat natural and pleasant for him to work with the Mexican The David Aguilar (five times nominated forl Latin Grammy) in the song Coquimbo – Mazatlana theme with a regional Mexican flavor and in which they tell the story of a person who survives heartbreak while simultaneously contemplating the swing of the ocean in front of these two Latin American ports.

I love the song, I also really like what I did with David Aguilar, thinking that Mazatlán, here in Mexico, and Coquimbo, there in Chile, are two geographically distant places but that manage to tell the story of a person who lives in both places at the same time.

With almost more than a dozen albums published, Gepe told us that three of the four themes that make up Realism they were composed, in large part, from Mexico and that thanks to technology, had the opportunity to open the creative process with artists from other countries.

I had never written for my catalog with other people, it had always been me who was behind the songs, and that’s how I broke the ice. The Realismo album is a celebration of having opened these compositional possibilities and having come to fruition, having left behind that prejudice that only I could compose songs.

4:40; Ansiedá and Coquimbo – Mazatlan, were composed here in Mexico at the end of last year, expressed his satisfaction with the results of the songs that, together with The three (produced by himself) make up his new EP.

Regarding the Mexican public, Gepe agreed that it is very warm, but the Chilean considers that it also has a peculiarity because it is usually very honest with the artist to express when something does not please him.

In this sense, a relationship has been generated with the Mexican public that goes beyond the fact that I make songs and people listen to them, but also that people say what they think about them.

However, the musician said that his experience has been gratifying because many of his followers have approached him to tell him that they have been enjoying his work for years and that it is now transcending to the new generations.

Regarding his reunion this week with the CDMX public, Daniel Riveros said that the most gratifying thing was listening closely to the people and the interaction they enjoyed.

The nice thing was that many people told me: “Hey, I’ve been listening to you for a long time and my children grew up listening to you”

For Gepe, an artist who writes and produces his songs, it is a reward to have generated a story with the Mexican public in particular.

Surprised that so many people have come with their tickets, with some sweatshirts, records for me to sign. I was very excited.

Gepe told Infobae that in the concerts he will offer in Mexican lands he will have guests such as the Colombian Esteman and the Mexican David Aguilar. And as another taste of what fans can expect from him, he told us that some very special guests will also be present, although the name will be a surprise for the shows.

It should be remembered that this artist has collaborated with Natalia Lafourcade and Carla Morrisonand precisely about the latter, he praised her wonderful voice and extraordinary aura, for which he confessed to us his desire to carry out a new collaboration, which he would like to compose a song with the native of Baja California.

Carla Morrison, I think she has a privileged voice, a very beautiful aura too. I would love to repeat (collaboration) with her, make a new song after this year.

Distinguished for his constant innovation of rhythms and sounds, the Chilean artist confessed that in the future he would like to explore the sound world of Mexico.

I love the street artists in Mexico City. It would be very interesting to do something like that with those artists, because there are sonorities that are pure from the street and without a doubt they present you with a reality in a much cruder way, much more powerful, much more real, much more instantaneous.

Gepe will perform on October 15 at the BB auditorium in Mexico City, but before that he will participate in the Coordenada Festival in Guadalajara, in addition to appearing in Tijuana in the first days of the month. In addition to presenting her new work, he promised an extensive review of her discography in what will be a fairly long show.
