The farewell tour of the former member of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, continues to attract attention for reasons that have nothing to do with music. If a few days ago the United States Government accused the artist of denigrating the Jewish peoplethe leader of kiss, Gene Simmonsborn in Haifa (Israel), wanted to intervene in the matter and comment on Waters and his political controversies marking a difference between the Middle Eastern country he comes from and anti-Semitism.
During an interview for Talk TV’s Piers Morgan Uncensored, Simmons spoke about the criticism that the show aroused Waters for the use of Nazi costumes and the name of Anne Frank in the show. These were his words:Well, first of all, Roger Waters is a very talented guy. He has written some of the most amazing music with Pink Floyd for decades. He is obviously up front and has a lot of fans.”.
Gene doubted about the advisability of airing political ideas on the stage: “Something could be said about keeping political controversies and other ideas off the stage. Your option is to use the stage as a platform to promote your point of view. There is a difference between a political opinion about Israel and anti-Semitism. By the way, antisemitism also affects Arabs, the definition of “Semite” includes the Arab world”.
The vocalist and guitarist continued in this way: “I think he’s a well-meaning guy. I don’t agree with his point of view, of course… From my point of view, I think he is unnerved and angry about the political situation, just like we all are”.
Regardless of controversy, there will still be an opportunity in our country to say goodbye for the last time to Gene Simmons and company, well kiss will be one of the main attractions of the second edition of the Rock Imperium Festival, the great rock event that awaits us in Cartagena in the summer of 2023. These are the official schedules of its three dayswith Helloween, Blind Guardian, Deep Purple or Europe among others also in front.
