Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett Thinks The Band Will Keep Recording Albums

Since the death of Taylor Hawkins in March of this year, the future of the Foo Fighters has been uncertain. The band canceled the dates it had scheduled and has been focused on the two tribute concerts to the drummer, the first was held in London on September 3 Y the second will take place this Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Chris Shiflett, guitarist, spoke in a new interview about the current moment of Foo Fighters. He mentioned that he thinks the band will record some other material in the future.

Interviewers asked the musician if the topic of Taylor’s death had come up repeatedly in recent interviews. “Most people I’ve come across have either been respectful about it or tried to avoid it,” Shiflett said. “The issue will probably come up more when we get to release another Foo Fighters album and do promotion again.”

“When I joined the Foo Fighters, in 1999, some time after Kurt Cobain died, I would see interviewers squirming trying to ask Dave Grohl about it, but they wouldn’t ask. I think something similar will happen,” he added.

Shiflett says that while most people have treated the subject respectfully, there are some disrespectful theories regarding Hawkins’ death. “Taylor was a great character and he meant a lot to millions of people, so I have this fascination with him dying, but a lot of what I’ve seen is completely wrong,” Shiflett said. “There are people saying things like Dave killed Taylor by making her get the COVID vaccine. Are you going to turn it into that? Go to hell. I try not to pay attention to it, but that shit is disrespectful.”

Dave Grohl, leader of the group, has not spoken publicly about the future of the band.

Shiflett L.recently released two singles from his solo project. ‘Long, Long Year’ was released at the end of July this year and ‘Born & Raised’ hit platforms earlier this month. Although there is still no official announcement of a new album by the guitarist, he is expected to release more music this year. In addition, he will be touring the Western United States during the last months of the year.

During the first concert in tribute to Hawkins, at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London, several events took place that will go down in rock and roll history, such as Paul McCartney playing ‘Oh! Darling’ by The Beatles for the first time live, Dave Grohl breaking down in tears at the beginning of ‘Times Like These’, among many others. Find out everything that happened that night here.

The latest Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles will feature several of the personalities who performed in England, plus Alanis Morissette, Miley Cyrus, and many more.

Foo Fighters’ tenth and most recent album, Medicine At Midnight, was released in February 2021. Prior to release, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins spoke with Rolling Stone en Español about the material and 25 years of rock.
