The prestigious US magazine Billboard, which has been dedicated to publishing music trends in various genres for more than 120 years, launched its first ranking of music festivals organized around the world. In this classification with 50 events, the Picnic Stereo Festival was located in the 32nd box.

The FEP, which has already had twelve editions, was the only festival organized in Colombia that was selected in this prestigious top 50. Among the musical events in Latin America, the Picnic ranked third behind Brazil’s legendary Rock in Riowhich has been organized intermittently since 1985 and is located in box 19 in the general classification, and the Baja Beach Festival of Mexicowhich is dedicated to reggaeton and ranks 25th.

The publication defines the Estéreo Picnic as the “Bogota lollapalooza”which refers to the fact that the Colombian and international artists who tour in the rest of the franchises of that festival —in the spring season of the northern hemisphere— are brought to the country through the FEP.

Billboard adds that the festival has “growing community of followers and a hippie market that attracts attendees to this mountainous festival”. It also warns those interested in visiting the FEP in the future that they should bring “suitable rain gear, because you will inevitably get wet in the torrential downpours that temporarily submerge the festival each day.”

The organizers of the Festival Estéreo Picnic thanked through their social networks for being taken into account in this important list, both to Billboard and to the attendees of each edition of the event.

“The news is that We don’t come here alone, we come with all of you who make it possible for the 3 best days of the year to come to life and that the entire team of people who are working to create A Different World find a purpose in making this a better place for everyone”, they assured. They also promised that in future listings dedicated to events like this, “you and we will be higher.”

“Each hug, each tear, each smile, each kiss, each time we close our eyes while the music takes care of putting us in that place we want to reach are a seal of what we live together from the here and now”, they wrote. the organizers of the EFF in their gratitude.

It should be remembered that the most recent edition of the Estéreo Picnic took place last March, with headliners like J Balvin and the bands The Strokes and Foo Fighters. However, the presentation of this last band was canceled at the last minute due to the death of its drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

The other two Latin American festivals that appeared in this list, curated by the magazine’s live music and tours editor, Dave Brooks, are organized in Mexico: Corona Capital Guadalajara (42) and Vive Latino (40).

Eight out of ten of the festivals that entered the top 10 of Billboard festivals take place in the United States. The first place went to the legendary Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which is organized in Indio (California), in which some 250,000 people participate each year during the two weekends it lasts, and whose ticket offices vanish within hours.

Second place is occupied by the Glastonbury Festival, which has taken place in England since the 1970s and has already accumulated 39 editions. The Tomorrowland festival, which has become a cult event among electronic music lovers, ranked sixth, while the original Lollapalooza — which takes place in Chicago — was seventh.
