The history of the secret concerts of The Rolling Stones in The Mocambo in 1977

This live album marks the first official appearance of the two famous concerts group secrets in the Toronto club with capacity for 300 people. which were made in March 1977.

When The Rolling Stones Stones went up to the stage of El Mocambo, a classic venue of the Toronto music scene since the 1940s, punk and disco music came into view.

The concerts came true previously as a secret reserve. A radio contest was organized in which the prize was tickets to see Canadian rock heroes, April Wine. Supported by an unknown band called The Cockroaches.

Nevertheless, they turned out to be The Rolling Stones themselves.

At night, of course, April Wine was the opening act. And so it was that the group turned back the years on the exhilarating incarnation of the club. Against all odds, the band produced two nights of exciting music which is still talked about in Toronto to this day.

What songs does the band’s new live album include?

It was a list of songs ranging from Muddy Waters’ ‘Mannish Boy’ and Bo Diddley’s ‘Crackin’ Up’. Even topics like ‘Let’s Spend The Night Together’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’ and ‘Tumbling Dice’. And back to the blues with Big Maceo’s ‘Worried Life Blues’ and Willie Dixon’s ‘Little Red Rooster’.

Also made the live debut of ‘Worried About You’. Qthat was not heard in studio form until Tattoo You from 1981, and more highlights from ‘Honky Tonk Women’ to ‘Hot Stuff’.

Forty-five years later, this is a trip back to the intensity of the Crawdaddy Club in the early days of The Rolling Stones. Revisited by the best rock ‘n’ roll band in the world.

Only four of the performances reached the Love You Live album that followed in September 1977which was dominated by songs recorded on the band’s 1975 and 1976 tours, and the full set had never been heard before.
