After the pealing of bells from Westminster Abbey, the march will travel three kilometers to Buckingham Palace, where Ed Sheeran will pay tribute to the 96-year-old monarch with his music.

Described as a “national treasure” by the organizers, the singer said he was “proud to be part of the celebrations”.

In total, 10,000 soldiers, artists of all kinds and volunteers will participate in the event, which will be broadcast on television around the world and could be followed, according to estimates, by 1,000 million people.

“This is something unique. In all of our history, we have never had the opportunity to celebrate 70 years of reign,” enthused Adrian Evans, the “conductor” of the parade.

After having organized a great nautical parade on the Thames in 2012, on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee, Evans decided this year to return to dry land and put the public at the center of his “town parade”, which will pay tribute to seven decades of British culture.

“I wanted to find a way that everyone could participate, so that all communities in the UK could play a part and participate in their own way in the celebrations,” he told AFP.

The event will feature aerial demonstrations, music of all styles, street art, dance and street theater, among other artistic manifestations. “I have created a parade that brings together different styles of artistic performances and celebrations. And, together, they tell the story of the reign of Elizabeth II.

But will the sovereign attend the parade? Will she appear on the balcony at the end of the act, when the public can enter the vast esplanade at the entrance of the palace and where her favorite Corgi dogs will be waiting for her?

“We are in contact with the Royal House about the involvement of all members of the royal family. Details will be released in due course,” said Parade Executive Director Rosanna Machado.

Isabel II he has largely withdrawn from public life because of his mobility problems. Her appearances have been increasingly rare since October, when she was briefly admitted to the hospital, but at the end of March she attended a religious ceremony honoring the prince philip.
