Former MEGADETH bassist david ellefson has explained in an interview with Metal Wani why the meeting for the formation of the album “Rust In Peace” did not take place.
“Well, it was a bit forced by management. I told Dave that we had to put the brakes on that because first we did the comeback “Rust In Peace”, a whole year when I came back to the band in 2010. We did the album live at the Palladium in Hollywood, and it went very well with that line-up, with shawn drover and chris broderick. So I told him we couldn’t bring back anyone who wasn’t as good as that. Besides Marty and nick they had been in different places musically since they left the group. nick he had had some health problems shortly before, just a couple of years before. In fact, unfortunately, she passed away a year later. Life is harder for drummers because you have to be very physical especially playing cane in Thrash Metal bands. It bills them.
The thing is, to go back and really nail it and do it as good or better than 10 or 15 years ago, it’s very difficult. Imagine going back and playing it for the fans and hitting the grand slam like you’re back in your glory days, it gets harder and harder as you get older. It wasn’t meant to be.”
