Casio denies Piqué and reveals his position in front of Shakira’s song

The tension between Shakira and Gerard Piqué does not seem to have a near end. After the release of the song La Barranquillera with Bizarrapas part of the ‘BZRP Music Sessions’, a wave of reactions has had the entertainment world with its eyes on the 12-year relationship that came to an end and from which two children emerged.

The Colombian not only sparked controversy by referring to Piqué and his current girlfriend Clara Chía in her song with a play on words, but also involved four renowned brands: Casio, Rolex, Ferrari and Renault -maker of the Twingo-.

“You changed a Ferrari for a Twingo, you changed a Rolex for a Casio,” he recited on the track that earned him millions of views on YouTube, the platform on which it became the Latin music video with the most views in its first 24 hours; they ousted Luis Fonsi with their hit ‘Despacito’.

In addition, the interpreter of ‘Monotonía’ reached the first position of the ‘Global Top 50’ on Spotify, that is, it was the most listened to song in the world for several days until ‘Flowers’ by Miley Cyrus dethroned it.

(Also: He parked his Twingo and they wrote to him not to ‘cry for not being a Ferrari’).

Casio moves away from Shakira and Piqué

The watch brand clarified its position after Shakira’s song.

Piqué appeared in a ‘streaming’ of the Twitch platform to continue promoting his Kings Leaguea competition in which well-known ‘streamers’ -people who carry out live broadcasts on different topics- and ex-soccer players play. There he responded to the song and announced a supposed alliance with Casio.

“By the way, Casio has given us these watches. We have reached an agreement with Casio, the Kings League has reached an agreement with Casio, ”he reiterated amid a few laughs from his teammates.

“No, no, I’m serious. Here I have a Casio for Ibai. We have for everyone. This watch is for life, huh? ”, She pointed out, directly alluding to a verse from Shakira’s track.

But it all turned out to be false. This was announced by the multinational of watches and other devices to the Spanish media after a statement – also false – was posted on the internet with which it was wrongly said that the company “showed solidarity for the unfortunate situation that the singer has experienced.”

“Our position has always been and will be neutral,” Casio stated for the ’20 minutos’ newspaper. In this way, they denied that there is a sponsorship or agreement with Piqué and took the opportunity to refer to the fact that the name of the brand is on the lips of more than one person.

“We are above all that. We are delighted with the responses from the fans. Casio has always responded with intelligence, elegance and ingenuity”, they expressed.

They even dared to use Shakira’s verse to emphasize that they have gotten rid of this whole issue: “Delighted that this came out for us… Pique, since, for now, people have responded 10 to us.”

(It may be of interest to you: This is how Shakira composed a song for Piqué: “He had a list of things he wanted to say”).

Previously, They had already denounced that dozens of false profiles are swarming on Twitter and Instagram. “No statement or message published on these accounts is official,” they mentioned.

Of course, they said they had their ‘hands tied’ somewhat to act against unofficial profiles. “If they specify that they are a parody, there is little to do,” they pointed out in other statements for the Spanish media ‘El País’.

Casio also spoke to the commotion on its official Instagram account for Spain: “If we have learned anything these days by reading your comments, it is that Casio is a beloved brand throughout the world and throughout the world. What We are not official sponsors of any side, we are committed to a space of respect and harmony”.

The brand was not far behind in the game of words, going to ‘king’ for the Kings League, by Piqué, and ‘loba’ for another song by Shakira They concluded in their verified networks: “So whether you are a king, you are a wolf or you are the very ‘Pikachu’ you have proven to be from Casio.”
