Carmen Linares and Ana Torroja will receive the Latin Grammy for Excellence in Seville

The Latin Recording Academy has announced that Carmen Linares, Mijares, Arturo Sandoval, Simone, Soda Stereo and Ana Torroja will receive this year’s Award for Musical Excellence. In addition, Alex Acuña, Gustavo Santaolalla and Wisón Torres will receive the Board of Directors Award. The winners will be honored in a private event during Latin Grammy Week, on Sunday, November 12 at the Lope de Vega Theater.

“We are very honored by the opportunity to recognize these great Ibero-American figures, whose musical legacy continues to inspire new generations,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy. “We look forward to celebrating their virtuoso trajectories during Latin Grammy Week in Seville next November.”

The Musical Excellence Award is given to performers who have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic value to Latin music and their communities during their careers. The Board of Directors Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to Latin music during their career, but not necessarily in the form of performances.

Seville will host the Latin Grammy gala on November 16 at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos. This event will be the final climax to a week in which there will be at least nine events spread across different parts of the city. As for the nominees, the names will not be known until after the summer.

On November 16 is the gala in Fibes that will be divided into two ceremonies. In the first, most of the awards of the night are delivered. Immediately afterwards, the main award will be presented, a recognition among colleagues beyond sales, tours and records.

The gala of these awards, considered the Oscars of the music industry and awarded since 1959 by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States, has always taken place in cities such as Los Angeles and New York, so going out of the United States is a great novelty.
