In 2018, Morrison considered how a change of scenery might change his perspective. A completely unknown place would demand growth, right? Morrison was excited by this hope: he moved to Paris.
“I was meeting everyone’s expectations, but not mine,” recalls Morrison. “He didn’t even have a personal life. He had no hobbies. My hobbies were music, and then that safe place finally wasn’t.”
She learned French, took jazz singing lessons, and learned how to cook in a way that specifically benefited her own body. Exploring the museums of Paris led to a study of Renaissance-era paintings; in Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus,” she saw herself finally accepting her innate beauty. These experiences inspired the album’s art and overall aesthetic, a press release noted.
