Busan prepares to host BTS’s massive free concert

Seoul, Oct 14 (EFE).- The South Korean city of Busan is preparing with special security and transportation measures to host this Saturday a massive and free concert by the well-known group BTS, which will serve to promote the candidacy of this city to host the Expo 2030.

The global K-pop superstars will perform in front of some 50,000 people at the Asian Games Stadium, according to the group’s management company Hybe, while giant screens have also been set up to watch the concert live at other points in the venue. city ​​before which several thousand more spectators are expected to gather.

Hybe and local authorities in Busan expect some 100,000 people to flock to the port city for what will be one of the biggest BTS events to date.

The city has increased the frequency of air, bus and metro connections in the face of such an influx, in addition to restricting the circulation of taxis.

An extensive security device has also been deployed in the busiest points of the city and with special attention around the stadium, and temporary medical clinics and additional emergency health facilities have been set up.

On the occasion of the show, which can also be viewed for free online, the city has been adorned by placing purple lighting characteristic of ARMY -as the group’s followers are called- in some of its most representative places, such as the Gwangan bridge or the Busan Tower.

The concert, titled after their latest single “Yet to come,” will be the K-Pop ensemble’s first since March, when they held their “Permission to dance on stage” concert series in Seoul.

The event will promote the candidacy of Busan (the second largest city in South Korea and located about 450 kilometers southeast of Seoul) to host Expo 2030.

The International Exhibitions Bureau will select the city that will host Expo 2030 at the end of 2023 among the candidates from Busan, Riyadh, Odessa and Rome. EFE
