Bum Bum Fest, a music festival to synchronize hearts

The closing slot of the Bum Bum Fest Bogotá will have, starting at 5:30 pm, one of the most important groups on the Colombian music scene: Monsieur Periné, led by Catalina García and the multi-instrumentalist Santiago Prieto.

It is said that when hearts are calm they beat at the same time. This beating of hearts together, that “boom boom”, is what gives rise to the name of this festival, co-creation of Bancolombia and the Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater. The Boom Boom Festwhich arrives in Cali and Bogotá with artistic activations, aims to be configured as a new space for citizens to discover art as a transforming element of society and, at the same time, for emerging Colombian artists from all disciplines to reach new audiences .

The main event of the Bum Bum Fest will take place this Saturday, October 1, starting at 10 am, at Parque San José de Bavaria. The musical presentations will be in charge of Monsieur Periné, Lucio Feuillet, Armenia, Latin Latas Y the New Philharmonic. In addition, there will be workshops on music, kite creation, mandala making, lutherie, juggling and manipulation of objects and circus activities, graffiti and percussion, by groups and artists such as You Rockcito, The House of Kites, Leydi Rayo, Latin Latas Y Cirko the Cat.

This day will have free admission until full capacity is reached, to the extent that activating the public space with massive, diverse and inclusive interventions that contribute to the democratization of culture is part of the purpose of this festival, which already had its first stage in Cali with an attendance of more than a thousand people.

Programming:

10:00 a.m.: Tu Rockcito workshop, aimed at musical creation with children and families.

11:00 am: Presentation of the group Latin Latas. Through music as a communication channel and waste as a tool for action, this cultural, environmental and educational organization seeks to inspire people to generate changes in their consumption habits. Among the shows of Latin Latas, which is characterized by creating musical instruments from waste and disused objects, ‘The Last Inhabitant of the Planet’ and ‘Resonating for the Planet’ stand out.

12:30 pm: Symphonic Pic Nic Strip, with presentation of the New Philharmonic. Winner of the Latin Grammy Award in 2019 in the category of Best Classical Music Album together with percussionist Samuel Torres, this group was founded by director Ricardo Jaramillo G. The orchestra seeks musical excellence through a repertoire that ranges from symphonic music traditional to the music of our days, including both fusions with other genres and recordings and performances of music for film and different media.

2:00 p.m.: Niche strip. The singer Lucio Feuillet with his concert ‘Dancing dancing’. This music producer from Nariño has been inspired by the Andean sensibility of southern Colombia, which extends to a dialogue of different musical airs, from the acoustic simplicity of the singer-songwriter to the power of the carnival murgas.
