BTS threatens to destroy reggaeton reign

BTS continues on the path of success as one of the most important bands today, and they show it every week. Not only because their millions of fans around the world make them a trend before each novelty, it is that each movement represents an important step in their trajectory, such as when they showed up at the Friends Reunion from HBO Max, and the one that we will present to you below. Is the reign of reggeaton ending?

The K-Pop band started in 2013, under the Big Hit company, and from there it did not stop until today, becoming one of the most important musical groups. Its seven members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V y Jungkook, co-write and co-produce most of their record material, and each has a large following on social media.

In the last few decades, the music industry has been taken over by one genre in particular: the reggaeton. Multiple artists have made their names for themselves through this style, in different languages, but it seems that everything is about to change. YouTube publishes daily through its website the rankings of the most listened to on the platform and the result showed that today the most chosen is BTS.

The Top 100 most popular songs worldwide on YouTube is led by the South Korean band, thanks to ‘Butter’, video clip that has a figure of 407 million views, which was released online on May 18. On the charts he surpasses reggaeton singers like Raw Alejandro, Natti Natasha y Bad Bunny. In this way, it is shown that, at least for today, the crown belongs to K-Pop.

That is not all, since in early June a report from Spotify that located BTS between the 15 artists with the most reproductions in their history, above Kanye West and Ozuna. At the moment they continue to climb positions, and if the current trend continues, they hope to displace J Balvin and Bad Bunny, who are part of the Top 5.
