Brian Johnson (AC/DC) caught at a Rolling Stones concert: “Georgie’s hero!”

B.Ryan Johnson has been caught at a Rolling Stones concert. He was the singer-songwriter Sam Fender the one who shared some photos with the idol of AC DC. (via blabbermouth.net)

Fender, apparently, was recovering, on July 3, having opened for the Stones in Hyde Park when, suddenly, he met Brian Johnson and could not help but take a snapshot with him and other personalities, such as Jimmy Fallon.

Interestingly, Sam referred to Johnson as “Your Geordie Hero”referring to the band in which the singer was a member before joining AC/DC after the death of Bon Scott.

“I just wrote this sentence and then laughed at how stupid it is: ‘It was exuberant for the boys to meet our Geordie hero Uncle Brian (@acdc) yesterday after trashing Hyde Park with @therollingstones, it was also great to see @jimmyfallon again”Sam wrote.

With a laughing emoji, and a reference to an upcoming concert date, Sam added: “We all feel like we’re in a simulation right now. Manchester on Wednesday! Let’s go”. Fender played a sold-out gig at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on July 6 as part of a tour that hits the United States later this summer.

The signing of Brian Johnson

In February 2020, Angus Young revealed in an interview that Bon Scott, who was an AC/DC singer until his death in 1980 and was later replaced by Johnson, got to see the former Geordie vocalist live with his band. Very positive opinion of him, although not for the right reasons.

“Bon had been in a band that had toured Britain, and they actually opened for the band Brian was in, which was called Geordie.Angus narrated. In any case, they were both on tour and, according to Bon when he told us the story, he was listening to Geordie live, and more specifically to Brian, when, suddenly, a scream was heard from the stage. Bon said it sounded great, like Little Richard was on stage. This guy (Brian Johnson) was howling and screaming. And so Bon told us that he saw him on the ground. He thought it was great, for him, that band and that singer were the best he had seen in a long time. However, what he did not know, although he later found out, is that Brian had had an attack of appendicitis on stage. Bon thought he was part of the show. He thought, ‘This guy is amazing.’ Even with it all, Brian was still hitting all those high notes.”

In another 2011 interview with the New York Post (via blabbermouth.net), Brian Johnson also acknowledged meeting Bon Scott: “I met him in 1973 or 1974. His band opened for mine, Geordie. I had a terrible case of appendicitis and fell to the ground, writhing and screaming. However, I kept singing. Apparently, when he joined AC/DC, he told the guys, ‘I saw this Brian Johnson sing and it was great. He was on the ground, kicking and screaming, what a performance!’ Of course it wasn’t a performance, he was really sick.”

On July 25, 1980, AC/DC released ‘Back In Black’ in the United States, taking it to the market in the United Kingdom a little later, on July 31. It was the band’s first album without Scott, who had died months before due to alcohol poisoning.

The group quickly decided to hire Johnson, who, as we’ve told you, was in Geordie, for the lead vocal position. As soon as he joined, the singer went with the band to the Bahamas, where he spent six weeks recording the album. The rest, as they say, is history.
