Bizarrap rewrites the rules of the game during a concert in Madrid before 25,000 people

It was only 50 minutes. But in glory. rang Nathy Peluso: “When he writes to me he sounds brave, but up front he doesn’t even say anything. Hmm”. Also heard from Resident: “This I do, pa have fun pa have fun”. Y Dwell: “Now I pay to the months to the Treasury”. Y Nicky Nicole: “When I see you, I see you pass by. / I think of the moments we knew how to love each other”. And of course Quevedo: “Stay, that the nights without you hurt”. None of them were there, but his voices were and no one missed his presence. Two broken rules here: the one that says that such short concerts are a scam, and the one that says that canned voices in a recital are a fraud. Neither one nor the other when it comes to Bizarrap. Gonzalo Julián Conde (his real name) yesterday closed a three-month tour of Spain, a historic time for him and for music in Spanish, since he has become, together with the canary Quevedo and thanks to the song BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 52 (popularly Stay), the most listened to musician on the planet.

The concert was held on Friday night in Madrid, at the Valdebebas venue, where Mad Cool rides, and before 25,000 spectators, tickets sold out at around 50 euros. On the artificial turf, another shattered topic materialized: an electronic concert was held there slipper for the entire family. There were young crooks Fabrik regulars, but also parents with adolescent children and even three-year-olds (with headphones to muffle the sound) on the shoulders of their parents. All dancing techno, hip hop and reggaeton conscientiously.

A curious festival this one Coca-Cola Music Experiencewhich takes place in Madrid for two days (September 2 and 3), with a presenter (the always enthusiastic Tony Aguilar), with the second most important artist playing only one song (Chanel and her SloMo) and where alcohol cannot be consumed. Well yes it is possible: in a tent of about 2,000 people if you prove that you are 18 years old. Many took out their DNI, because the limited area was filled to the brim. In addition to Bizarrap and Chanel, Argentina’s Emilia (interesting), the Spanish Belén Aguilera (in the process of looking for her style) and the Colombian Manuel Turizo (too expansive) also performed last night.

And in this came out on stage Bizarrap. Surely we are facing a new concept of show. It is not a traditional concert because there are no musicians or vocalists on stage; neither is a DJ session because here you can hear singing. What is? A bizarrerapshow, a show that this 24-year-old Argentine has pulled out of his sleeve. The songs don’t even have names, which is already innovating. They are numbers: BZRP Music Sessions 49, 36, 40 either 13. People, of course, prefer to confer a bit of glamor to the matter and list them like this: “This is Nathy Peluso’s, how cool!”, “Here, the one from Resident!”The only one that has gotten a canonical name is Stay, session 52, the one he shares with Quevedo, who last night transformed the room into a mass of rubbing bodies and screaming throats. Quevedo, wherever he was, surely he heard her. Bizarrap began billing its famous BZRP Music Sessions in 2018 with musicians who had not yet exploded. Today, even the most established stars want to stop by his magical studio. Each session His is a guaranteed hit. Shakira is rumored to star in the 53.

With a black cap, sunglasses and headphones tied around his neck that he barely puts on his ears, Bizarrap presses little buttons, twists little pieces and moves his arms and body aesthetically. He appears sheltered behind a large table. He looks pretty from the waist up. From there he shakes his body, sometimes up and down when hip hop sounds, and when things get techno what he plays is to raise his arms. He hardly speaks. Occasional “up Madrid” or “good night, Madrid.” The play of lights, screens, illuminated panels, images of the artists who participated in the sessions, lyrics of the songs projected on a pop aesthetic… the whole set is absolutely intoxicating. It is about dancing, but with your eyes wide open so that the flashes of light dilate your pupils.

And music? Fine thanks. Bizarrap reviews his famous sessions, where those mentioned above and other heroes of urban music like Antillean Villain, L-Gante, Eladio Carrión, Ptazeta, Snow Tha Product, Tiago PZK or Paulo Londra. The Argentine is linking the pieces with skill and mastery, almost always in an electronic dance key. The decibels grind your guts like a grinder. He breaks up the songs: Residente’s is played for a few seconds, he joins it with Morad’s and later returns to Residente. All chained with meaning and art in a non-stop session. Sometimes he turns down the volume so people sing along. Does the Argentine manipulate something on stage, or does he simply limit himself to doing the paripé because everything is recorded? Spectators don’t care. They enjoy whether it is one option or the other. Because here everyone is young and idealistic in spirit, reluctant to pure dogmatism.

“They made me feel very good in these three months in Spain,” he said at the end, with a shy tone, and did not stop taking selfies with the crowd in the background. While the parents left the venue with their children, the young people and noisy people stayed at the foot of the stage, howling: “And we left in one, we started at one, and with the quick note they gave us three.”
