Many rock bands mark a before and after in the music industry and it is believed that they are the ones that have been around the longest, such is the case of The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, The Cure, among many others.
Nevertheless, some rock bands that marked the history of music did not last even 10 years togethers and here we show you some examples that despite their short time as a band, they did leave their mark on the music industry.
1. The Beatles (since Ringo joined, 1962 – 1970)
What else can be said about the Beatles? Their influence on music is something that has not been seen again in the industry, they left a legacy that to date continues to position them as one of the most important bands in history, leaving hits like Let it Be, Here Comes The Sun, Yesterday, Something, among many others. Also achieving success in the cinema with tapes like Yellow Submarine and with all this the band with the 4 original members (John, Paul, Ringo and George) They only lasted 8 years together until their dissolution in 1970.
2. Nirvana (1987 – 1994)
The quintessential grunge band, founded by Kurt Cobian and Krist NovoselicNirvana was one of the bands that changed the music scene at the beginning of the 90s with the integration of Dave Grohleven being considered as “the voice of the generation”, having hits like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Something in the Way, among many others. The band they were only together for 7 years until the death of Kurt Cobain, which ended their career together but without neglecting all the legacy and popularity they left in their wake.
3. Joy Division (1976-1980)
This band originally called Warsaw, was founded by Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Cook and Stephen Morris and punk rock evolved by developing a sound and style called post-punk, of which they were pioneers, since they not only had a sinister sound, but their lyrics were obsessed with despair and death, products of the epilepsy suffered by their vocalist. 4. The Doors (1965 – 1973)

5. The Smiths (1982 – 1987)
Another band that marked the history of independent music was The Smith’sformed by Morrisey, Johny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce dominating a melancholic style in his lyrics, mixing alternative rock and indie pop, reaping hits like Asleep, There is a Light That Never Goes Out, I Know It’s Overamong others. They were together for 5 years but due to Morrisey’s temperament The Smiths finally broke up in 1987, when Marr left the band due to some disagreements.
