Bacilos returns to concert in Colombia with new music

Going back in time, André Lopes would like the memories of all this history of Bacillus to be clearer: “It makes me a little desperate because the memories go away, but the other day I was cleaning my computer and I found photos of the tour Moon facefor example, and looking at those photos I was aware of everything we’ve done And those scenes come back to me. I am desperate not to have those memories so clear and vivid in my head.

Bacilos began in 1996 playing in bars and before audiences that did not exceed 200 people. It was in the year 2000 when Alejandro Sanz invited them to sing at his concert at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá and everything changed: “That night there were 40,000the change in our lives began in Colombia”, reiterates Lopes.

Both Jorge Villamizar and André Lopes are happy that this project of Bacilli remain in forcewill be presented this November 4 at the Movistar Arena in Bogotá alongside Diego Torres and Alejandro Lerner and they talked with EL COLOMBIANO about this show and their future plans.

How much have they changed from that Bacilli that started until now?

Jorge Villamizar (JV): “One thing we have learned is to feel gratitude for the opportunity that life has given us to live from this, it is a great opportunity, we are very lucky and sometimes in the process one forgets and one it is consumed by ambition, anxiety, the desire for one thing to happen and the other, and you simply forget to enjoy and thank how strange and wonderful it is to be a recognized artist by an audience as huge as the Latin American”.

And they return to Colombia with this show with Alejandro Lerner and Diego Torres…

André Lopes (AL): “The emotion of returning to Colombia is very special because in reality we have visited Colombia a lot, since the beginning of Bacilos. Before the pandemic we were there, we did a concert on our return after 10 years of vacation, we were in Bogotá, Medellín, we were preparing for a big tour and then the pandemic arrived. This year we did almost 50 shows, but we needed to return to Colombia and now comes that very special opportunity to share the stage with other artists, it’s very important to go back, reconnect with our fans and find some new ones, maybe Diego and Alejandro, but we know we have a new generation of Bacilos fans, it’s a new life, a new opportunity and this visit to Bogotá represents all of that”.

And there is a nostalgic aura in the musical environment, I don’t know if you have noticed…

JV: “Totally and we as artists and as fans have felt it. The thing is that a good song is not a perishable product, it does not mean that because Fito Paez is 60 years old. I’m not going to see it anymore, because I have to go see the new reggaeton artist that came out. I just went to see Fito Páez and I enjoyed it, he transported me and he is still Fito, he is fantastic”.

How have you been since the announcement that there would not be three but two members, after the departure of José Javier Freire?

AL: “The logistics change a bit, the way of working at the production level, but from the beginning we have had many musician friends, producers who participate in everything that is the Bacilos project. Today we are five on stage: we are Jorge and I and we have three great Cuban musicians who accompany us, people who make it possible for us to present these functions to the public in a fun, efficient and exciting way. It changes everything a bit and the changes in the work team generate a bit of trauma, but also an opportunity to look for different ways and other components, another season, it is simply a new stage and we have found a way of working that continues to be a pleasure. do it”.

And they just released a new song…

JV: “She withers the flowers it’s called, it’s not an easy song, it’s a strange title. We did it with Jorge Luis Chacín, who is a genius, a spectacular Venezuelan artist and people who like salsa will recognize him as Guaco. We wrote it with him and he also has the participation of the actress Mabel Moreno in the video. Mabel is a friend of mine who I showed the song to and asked her what she would do with this video so it’s not a one-sided thing and she gave us a couple of ideas, she connected with Christian Smith who is the director we’ve been working with lately. It has been a very nice song that has connected us to wonderful people and is being well received by our audience and we appreciate it very much”

And what’s coming…

JV: “We have three Christmas songs. Part of what Bacilos now has in common is that we are parents and have children of the same age, so these songs are recorded with our children. Colombia is the number one country for Christmas carols in the world, you will like it”
