ARCH ENEMY They will play alongside BEHEMOTH, CARCASS and UNTO OTHERS on October 8 in Madrid and October 9 in Barcelona. For this reason, we spoke prior to these appointments with Alissa, who told how great the tour is going, she spoke of the moment of the band and her solo career, among other things.

– Hello Alice. In which city did you play last night and where are you now?

Alice.- Well, yesterday we played in Paris and now we’re near Toulouse, so we’re still in France. France is the first country of the tour in Europe as such, we have been to the United Kingdom, Ireland and now we are here with great desire to continue the tour.

– How was the concert last night? Summarize it, describe how it was…

Alice.- Everything is going very well.

– This tour crowns even more ARCH ENEMY . How is the artistic moment that the band lives today?

Alice.- Everything is great. We are in a good moment, we have just released a new album, we have published quite a few singles and we like that because we can play many new songs live. It’s fun for us and for the audience, who can hear these songs live, as we put in all six singles.

– You play on October 8 in Madrid and October 9 in Barcelona. What can fans expect from those two performances, what will they be like?

Alice.- We always really enjoy the concerts in Spain, it’s a very seasoned audience, and we’re really looking forward to it. We hope you will not disappoint us.

– I’ve seen the repertoire you perform. We imagine it will be very similar…

Alice.- Regarding the repertoire we have incorporated the songs from “Deceivers” as I said, but there are also old things. And not to forget the support of the incredible bands that accompany us, BEHEMOTH, CARCASS and UNTO OTHERS. If you like sugarcane music you will like the concert. We are four very different bands but all very good.

– Describe us how is the montage, the stage production…

Alice.- Well, we are a metal band playing metal songs and we like to present ourselves to the fans with the funniest show possible, but in ARCH ENEMY it is more about the themes and the music than the show. We play and take pride in performing and making it the best it can be for the public.

– How do you feel vocally on this tour? Tell us about yourself.

Alice.- I feel very good. I have to be careful, stay healthy, not lose sleep, train, try not to work too hard, although that’s easier said than done… I feel good.

– Many fans were surprised when they heard you sing melodically with ARCH ENEMY . How do you feel when you sing like that?

Alice.- I like to sing clean, as much as to shout. Both techniques are very fun, and I like to do things in between, like in the chorus of “House Of Mirrors”, as a mix, it’s also very fun. I like to do different things with my voice and I’m glad to see that people like it. Those two songs are very well received live and I like it when people sing along with me.

– How is it working out on this rhythmic base tour with Erlandsson and D’Angelo? And what can you tell me about the Amott / Loomis tandem?

Alice.- Everything is very compact. Everyone brings their energy every night and everyone puts on a great show every night. We are very professional and prepare ourselves physically and mentally to make a perfect concert, that’s what our fans deserve. Each member of the group is a first-class musician, and that makes the concert very special.

– What is the latest album “Deceivers” for you? What would you especially highlight?

Alice.- We worked on it for a long time before editing it, and when you work on something for so long you lose objectivity. Although we were sure of the product, we were not entirely convinced how people would receive it. Which themes were the best for live, for videos, we didn’t know which themes to choose. And the truth is that we have been amazed at the reception the album has had, both by the fans and the press. We really appreciate it.

We think it’s a very varied album, I think it’s an album that can reach people with very different tastes.

– Angela Gossow was the vocalist for ARCH ENEMY and now she is the manager. What has been the best piece of advice she has given you lately?

Alice.- The truth is that I couldn’t tell you. She is the manager, but she is not touring or involved in music. She is a great friend, a great manager and singer, and she does a great job.

– What can you tell us about your solo album?

Alice.- Well, there are clean voices, because I like to compose different voice lines for different types of songs. Whenever I want to do something different, I leave it for a solo project, so in the end I’ll end up releasing these songs on an album.

– I think KAMELOT’s keyboard player, Oliver Palotai , is helping you on it…

Alice.- Yes, I’ve been working with him, but not for the solo album, it’s other things.

Although Oliver Palotai is on guitar, not on keyboards.

– Will it be melodic, will fans of ARCH ENEMY…?

Alice.- I think so. I haven’t released anything from my solo album yet. I have released a theme for my Patreon. I have a fan club there and every season I give them a song and a video, but that’s not my solo album, that’s something else.

I think my album will be liked by ARCH ENEMY fans. In certain aspects it is more powerful than ARCH ENEMY… it is different, it is metal, there is a mixture in my voices. I have no need to compete with ARCH ENEMY, I like what I do in the band, it’s just something I want to do.

– If all goes well, when will it come out?

Alice.- I do not know yet.

– And to finish with ARCH ENEMY . Do you plan to record another DVD or Blu-Ray of this tour?

Alice.- It would be a good idea because the show is very good, it sounds very good and it’s a great repertoire, but right now we don’t have plans, not that I know of. But you’re right, it’s been six years since the last DVD and it would be nice to do another one.

– Say goodbye to the interview before the concerts as you wish…
